  5. Did I not mention they were already spoken for? Thanks all for the suggestions. Much to chew on. Like, if Harbeths are all about mids and Quad amps are all about mids, will the combo blow just the middle of my head off? Incidentally, I did a little experiment this week and only listened to the 12Ls, no headphones at all. Speakers are still moar better.

  7. You haven't been around many newborns, have you? They toot as reliably as Dizzy Gillespie.
  8. I'd estimate that about 35% of the weekly Police Blotter in our poky little whitebread IT cube farm dormitory town is made up of iPod and iPhone thefts from lockers, bags, cars at the High School. I would advocate simply buying every student one and saving the countless hours of cop time, but have to assume half would immediately be traded for fake IDs or sold to buy weed, so there are some flaws in the model. Teenagers suck.
  9. Thank you God, or whoever, for giving back the dark background in iTunes grid view. So much less eye strain.
  10. You're just looking to sell some more 25ft custom interconnects! Hmm, Quad 99.
  11. ^^^ See, I knew that. Chris, I did see an older LK-280 going pretty cheap recently. I've never heard any Linn stuff, though.
  12. Like a maroon, I'm getting the itch to ditch my highly enjoyable and convenient active Quads for some passive P3ESRs. This means I'll need an outboard amp, which is going to be a tight fit on my already-overloaded desk. So I guess I'm looking for suggestions on amps that are modestly sized and modestly powered and might have modest synergy with the Harbeths -- which are a 6 ohm load and 84dB sensitive and will be used in the very nearfield. There are a couple of Class D options which obviously fit the form factor -- Headroom, Bel Canto S300 -- but I'm not sure about the sonics. An Aleph 3 would work, but might just burn its way through to freedom. I nearly pulled the trigger on an Ayre V-3, but realized sadly that 18"*15" and 55lbs does not really a desktop amp make. Toob options I know next to nothing about. Open to any and all input*. Thanks. (* So's your Mom etc. etc.)
  13. It certainly sounds nice. Dirty, in the good way. Haven't heard the digital version, so can't compare. Built To Spill -- There Is No Enemy Vinyl.

  17. Those would be fucking wicked in black with, say, a zebrawood stand!
  18. There is some truly debauched gear sluttery underway on Head Case right now.
  19. I really like the look of this. New Fosgate Signature phono. Jim Fosgate is an interesting guy and he's apparently been building phono stages and other neat vinyl goodies for himself for decades. Tweakers rejoice!
  20. Superb!
  21. Alphaville -- Forever Young
  22. Looks like the wife has a new gig that will keep her a lot closer to home for the next six months or so. Upside, regular childcare assistance. Downside, regular inventory of "Wall Of Scotch". Hmmm.
  23. Aimee Mann -- Magnolia OST
