  1. ^^^ See, I knew that. Chris, I did see an older LK-280 going pretty cheap recently. I've never heard any Linn stuff, though.
  2. Like a maroon, I'm getting the itch to ditch my highly enjoyable and convenient active Quads for some passive P3ESRs. This means I'll need an outboard amp, which is going to be a tight fit on my already-overloaded desk. So I guess I'm looking for suggestions on amps that are modestly sized and modestly powered and might have modest synergy with the Harbeths -- which are a 6 ohm load and 84dB sensitive and will be used in the very nearfield. There are a couple of Class D options which obviously fit the form factor -- Headroom, Bel Canto S300 -- but I'm not sure about the sonics. An Aleph 3 would work, but might just burn its way through to freedom. I nearly pulled the trigger on an Ayre V-3, but realized sadly that 18"*15" and 55lbs does not really a desktop amp make. Toob options I know next to nothing about. Open to any and all input*. Thanks. (* So's your Mom etc. etc.)
  3. It certainly sounds nice. Dirty, in the good way. Haven't heard the digital version, so can't compare. Built To Spill -- There Is No Enemy Vinyl.
  4. FTFY.
  5. Very faint smell of BS?
  6. Even the stuff that's going domestic? WTF?
  7. The Dead Weather -- Horehound Vinyl.
  8. Those would be fucking wicked in black with, say, a zebrawood stand!
  9. There is some truly debauched gear sluttery underway on Head Case right now.
  10. I really like the look of this. New Fosgate Signature phono. Jim Fosgate is an interesting guy and he's apparently been building phono stages and other neat vinyl goodies for himself for decades. Tweakers rejoice!
  11. Superb!
  12. Alphaville -- Forever Young
  13. Looks like the wife has a new gig that will keep her a lot closer to home for the next six months or so. Upside, regular childcare assistance. Downside, regular inventory of "Wall Of Scotch". Hmmm.
  14. Aimee Mann -- Magnolia OST
  15. 120dB peak?
  16. http://www.naim-audio.com/download/Naim_DAC_White_Paper_Aug_2009.pdf (Can't remember if this has been posted in another thread already. I found it interesting anyway.)
  17. Your house is clearly going to be a warm and inviting home. Also, easy to sluice down.
  18. Matt Murphy's Pub.
  19. Nick Drake -- Pink Moon Simply Vinyl reissue.
  20. I like your diet plan. You should write a book.
  21. Google Maps Navigator. Not only free, but it apparently also knows exactly what you're craving! Android first then iPhone, allegedly.
  22. Now that's a watch horological machine!
  23. The Smiths -- Strangeways, Here We Come
  24. Hell yeah! I played with the new 3.06 C2D the other day and that was pretty snappy with 4GB of RAM. Put 8GB in the i7 machine and go to town. Will say that you'll probably want a fair bit of wall clearance behind the screen for air circulation, as the Apple Store iMacs were pumping out the heat pretty impressively. The whole aluminium back panel seems to act as a big radiator.
