  1. Heres one I made earlier: Ok, ok you got me, im not really Audio Technica! Anyway, you can see that they have left a v.little bit of grain open on theirs. Or you trying to achieve their gloss finishes?
  2. ahahaaa!!! best post of the day
  3. I think that image will boost the price!! A buyer might mistake what he is getting
  4. Well at these prices buying the whole setup is more economical really, since according to Stoneaudio you get the adapter with it: - "The Ergo AMT is supplied with its own switching box for direct connection to the LS output of your amplifier." Alas its a all a bit expensive for me at the moment, but at least its in the radar now thanks to you Doug! I'll revel in the fun of discovering new orthos in the meanwhile.
  5. Sorry, typo. 440 for each, therefore 880 for a pair. I checked stoneaudio, you can buy the headphone+adapter for
  6. Well I decided to ask how much the AMT drivers were in case it wasnt much, but I was wrong. The price for two each driver is SFR 440, so 880 for both. If Im correct thats $760 .
  7. I think you just found a new alternative to Red Bull and Coffee!!!
  8. Hmmm that could pose a small hurdle....... Ya never know, maybe the politics department might have an RP machine...they might have used it to create cupholders for their coffee.
  9. Hey think about it like this, you just got the cheapest tattoo deal on the planet!! (otherwise hope ur ok smegg!)
  10. Nice!!! Personally I think it must have been the Blutak that took it over the edge . Theres much to be said about that magic material.
  11. This is cool stuff. Do you know if you can purchase the driver seperately to the headphone? And once you are done and have time, will you post a mod guide?
  12. wow, thats interesting stuff. What recent mods did you do Duggeh that took it over the edge? (does it still look as ghetto as it did a few weeks back heh)
  13. I'm very careful with my screws, and if you mean the flower grooves on the screwheads, then mine barely have any wear on them after many openings. Id be most worries about stripping the screw holes in the cups! You dont happen to remember that scheme you mention that you rashly changed out?
  14. I gotta say, Im loving your YH-100 photo, it captures the headband design nicely. You can see how this was the successor to the YH-1000, it's basically a streamlined version of that, mixed with the Bellini styling.
  15. Awesome ! I'd be interested to see what you end up doing for the mods down the road.
  16. Nice!! What are your initial impressions?
  17. Blasphemy!!! (I think I just like it because its blue..., and reminds me of playdough during childhood)
  18. Blutak! You can never have enough of the stuff. Stick it on your ortho even if just for decoration!! Iv stuffed my HP-50 with bluetak everywhere hehe dont know why (none of it is actually for damping)
  19. Heh yes Ludo is right. IF you ever feel like taking a complicated route and pulling some hair out...take a look at my post here: Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio - View Single Post - Orthodynamic Roundup
  20. Looks like you overdamped it. You could try a reflex dot/strip with the old good scheme. It might fix the problem for you...(if you arent too keen on changing pads)
  21. Well going to K240 pads, i found the vocals lost some intimateness. But the sacrifice wasnt soo bad, i think the shallower the circum pads are (ie closer to the driver) youll keep that intimate warm vocals intact. But your descriptions sound good, like youv made very very good damping progress. I havent heard the T30's just reports that they are v.bassy so I just assumed they would need similar steps to the NADs. But yes if your intuition is telling you to keep damping, definately go ahead and do it , it could very well yeild the results your looking for. (and i hope it does!) Btw, since you are wondering what other cans to look out for, not tooo many will have the amount of bass that the T30 has. But pretty much all yamaha's will exercise the wonderful vocal timbre you are describing . Its really a forte of certain orthos (Yamaha and some large serpentine drivers).
  22. Oh yes, you might notice I never mentioned reflex dots in my damping tips. Thats because I'm not a great fan of them, they are only a last resort kinda thing in my opinion. If used, I find they congest the entire sound. But some of the modders out there like it, so if you are gonna use it, use it after all of your damping efforts (and it sounds like you are actually pretty much there torperdo, from your descriptions of the sound). Btw, torpedo, do you have any other orthos?
