Yikes, if you've ever had a leaky wax ring on a toilet you'd never think about breathing the air that's down there. There's a reason that toilets are designed to maintain a water barrier between the air in the room and the air in the waste line. BLECH!!!!!
  2. Not to mention that they're something you definitely don't want to buy used!
  3. Uh yeah, at this point I think I'll pretty much ignore what this guy has to say about headphones as an audiophile listening experience. The comment about the HD600s providing isolation seals the deal.
  4. Agreed, the mold wraps around so much of the driver and actually the cable as well that I don't see how that'd be possible. Still, that's of little concern since if I'm going to spend ~$300 to $400 for a new set of IEMS I'm just going to plunk donw for customs anyway. Amen to that, I could never convince myself to build Xin's Ety cable as it just looked a bit too ghetto. Alex's cable looks friggen sweet. There are some pretty positive impressions over at HF of the cable as well. I'll see if I can track the thread down, here it is.

  6. Nah, he's selling an Ety cable now that looks really sweet and at some point the cost vs. hassle factor takes over and even I'm willing to pay someone else to do work.
  7. I just reread some of my comments and it sounds like I'm being pretty harsh, that's not what I intended. I think Alex's work is first rate and if the techflex doesn't present a microphonics issue I can see how it'd be much easier to work with given its ability to expand to a far greater degree than multifilament. Alex, YGPM on a separate issue.
  8. That's pretty much what I said. In the past I don't remember finding anything nearly as reasonable sounding (price-wise) and they always looked goofy as hell too. These actually look half-decent and the price is great. Now, to figure out if I want to go nuts and have APS recable the Etys first...
  9. Looking forward to that, I saw a thread about custom impressions for ER4Ps again last night and I'm seriously weighing that as an option now too. They don't have much in the way of resale value ($100ish) and if the process is reversible it's not all that much of a risk for better comfort and isolation.
  10. I like them both. Great job on the design Justin, I can't imagine that Resistor Ray is happy about being trumped for the "stuffing the most into the smallest package" title.
  11. I guess for me, even after the microphonics issue, it's still a matter of feel. Techflex feels like crap to me.

  13. I hear you, I've given a lot of thought to changing from the ER4P to something else, but decided that if I'm going to bother to do it I'm going to move to customs. I'll never be able to afford the UE10/11/whatever and there's not much to choose from in the sub-500 custom range. I don't have enough faith in the livewires yet to take a flier on them.
  14. Alex, How are the microphonics with the techflex sleeving? That's my one big gripe with the Zu Mobius. Nylon multifilament sleeving seems much better in all aspects compared to standard techflex.
  15. There's a better deal on ER4S's here right now that I'd be all over if I needed some budget IEMs.
  16. Took a vacation to Chicago, so I missed it entirely. This new theme business threw me off.
  17. The M3 probably does a great job with the 650, which isn't hurting your impression of them either.
  18. I don't think so, I'm supposed to get a little alone time with the prototype whenever it's ready this fall. I know that Pete's been a busy guy (with some seriously cool projects) so I don't know how much time he's invested into the new HA-2 or how hard Tyll is pushing him to get it done.
  19. Thanks for you impressions, I'd just have to add that I've never been a fan of the HF-1s with flats, they sound fat and bloated to me that way. I much prefer them with bowls. While I've never heard the MS2i I have heard the 325 and 325i and preferred both of those cans with flats or reverse bowls. Did you try the HF-1s with anything other than the flats?
  20. That's not an entirely fair or accurate statement. Most of the best teachers that I know freely admit that sometimes they just make tests too hard and that the numeric score generated does not reflect the overall capability of the class. In some cases getting 70% of the answers correct might very well show a complete understanding of the material presented. On topic: water

    Battlestar Galactica

No spoilers please, I've this whole show (3 seasons) cued up and ready to go soon. Now that I've got it so that I can watch downloaded content in high-def in the living room I imagine I'll get to this and a few other shows that I didn't want to watch on the computer.

I'd say it was average at best, but if it didn't do it for you I wouldn't encourage watching the show. I certainly didn't think it was as bad as you clearly did, but hey, such is life.
  24. Can't say I blame you, I've been on a source rather than headphone binge lately.
