Grado HF-2 thread
While it is a Grado, it does seem that this is one of the most cushioned headbands that Grado has ever made. I think it looks fine how it is unless you really want yours brown.

So long, Grasshopper
The whole curtain cord around the balls thing would make it seem more like auto erotic asphyxiation if it had been around the higher located genitalia, so I'm guessing suicide. However, I do have to wonder why he did that part and would like to also see if drugs are involved.

JH Audio stuffs
Man, CanJam brought life back into a stale headphone product market on the upper end for sure. Sadly I'd have to definitely think about it before going through getting customs done again. Getting the customs done properly can be hell IME.

CanJam 2009 Impressions, Pics, Parties, etc...
That seriously irks me hearing that. I really can't imagine being able to resist locking myself in a room for at least 24 hours with that amp after putting the money down.

Thanks, I need to pay more attention.

CanJam 2009 Impressions, Pics, Parties, etc...
This is becoming odd with three major manufacturers all implementing digital volume controls inside of super slim amps which have all been announced in the last month and even with prototypes available at the international meet. TTVJ's amp reminds me of the one that another site was advertising about come from Headamp in April 2009 (Headamp arrow, which I'm guessing has since become the Pico Slim). Was there some kind of ad posted to manufacturers on digital volume controls lately or was the technology well known but just now being made attractive at the cutting edge?

CanJam 2009 Impressions, Pics, Parties, etc...
I didn't like the Millett Hybrid Portable when I owned it with IEMs because of the microphonic tube ping and the rush when plugging in phones or turning on the amp. It also doesn't have the highest amount of detail like a desktop amp or competing portable amps at that price that I have heard (iqube, Pico, LISA III), but it sounded so glorious with my old modded SR-60. I suspect it would be a very synergistic match with most Grado. So the new Millett Portable does not have a low voltage tube at all, while the original did is what I'm hearing? They should have changed the name more perhaps.

Best sounding USB cable for under $60
Belkin gold works perfectly well. USB doesn't do error correction in the cable, but the protocol and receiver usually does use the error detection to detect and request that any data with errors be resent which may increase jitter. But really, it seems like it would have to be a piss poor cable to have many errors at all, any cable that meets USB specifications should be fine in my book as a decent receiver would likely buffer the data as well.

Congrats JP! It sounds as if you are honeymooning already.

The ask dsavitsk thread
Ha, I'm listening to my MHMax uncased right now. It's super bassy even with Gamma1 right now, I'm going to switch in the 12FK6 tomorrow.

HD800? Another rumor?
Can't you remove it before clicking submit? There is a ton of white space at the bottom of all my posts while I'm composing them without the period. Was that a joke? These things are going to require a serious amplifier. I can't stand my PSP's sound with the KSC75. I think you would get much much higher quality with the HD600, a gamma1, and an M^3 at half the price then the HD800 out of an iPod.

I do not believe Nate was making a joke.

Grado HF-2 thread
I sold my SR-225 in preparation (I kind of knew I was getting them if they didn't come out sounds like SR-325i), but had to wait to know that I wouldn't regret it when I saw the pictures and first impressions. I'm happy, it compliments my M^3 and reviews make me feel it is probably more up my alley then an RS1.

The Headcase Stax thread
Seems you won't need to borrow mine after all! Not at all a bad thing, they get the most head time for me these days as I've become acclimated to them.

Garbage disposal & power conditioning
A dedicated line would be the most appropriate if it can be done for $500 I would think.

Go figure
Its possible to get past the mil-spec red nail polish that Ray uses to mask his work. Rather then grind down the IC and use a microscope, KG has access to x-ray and many other high price tag items to do research with as an Electrical Engineer in the Chemistry department at Northwestern University, but he could probably figure it out with only his knowledge of circuits with some certainty. He has built many professional amps (ever hear of the Gilmore Lite or KGSS) with fully released documentation and has a high level of knowledge in that area. See here for a source you might trust: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f6/who-kevin-gilmore-197035/

Need configuration suggestions. $500 budget.
I've been using mine with the M^3 and SRM-T1 for about a month and completely agree.

Gamma DAC full and M^3 is definitely in that price range and I think would make a very decent mid-fi system. Just not going to have very strong bass from the Gamma. A pico DAC and M^3 would be a pretty slick combo, but you would probably have to find a used M^3.

What did you do today?
I was reamed by payroll who removed $330 off of my final paycheck to pay for the state's budget deficit. It was supposed to only be $162, so I'm taking bets on whether I'll ever see my money back. Other then that, its Friday and payday, so Starving Student PCB and Hammond group buy tonight. I'm sure part of this night will be vicariously experienced through the lot of you at CanJam living it up.
