  1. Sorry to hear about the sickness man. Hope you're all cured for your trip with Dusty. I spent a good hour digging out our second car so that it will be less buried when the second round hits tomorrow night.
  2. I look forward to the response. Those Decklink Cards look cool too but appear to only be stereo right now according to the spec page. Not that that really matters.
  3. Not necessarily new but nice to see that "JJ" says if you know the two are different then you'll hear a difference. Having a long time to compare isn't going to make your comparison any more effective. That Satan thing Poppy Crum was flat out amazing. It pretty much showed that the power of suggestion is lot stronger than a lot of us (myself included) would like to believe.
  4. Quite right. I would say under two hours is sort of "in the area" for a hobby as specialized as ours.
  5. Yay sarcasm
  6. No advice at all I'm afraid but I hope you guys have a safe trip. Look forward to meeting you sometime now that we're going to be in the same area.
  7. Thanks for posting. What I've been saying for years. Of course it's entirely bullshit according to a lot of people here and elsewhere
  8. The lost me at RedBook=Analogue not Digital. As usual Six Moons is full of shit.
  9. Looks like we got of relatively easy here in Old Town with about 24-30" of snow but no power outages or any other major issues. Shovelling was relatively painless and even that tree branch thing was pretty minor. The only issue I have right now is that we don't have any salt for melting some of the ice and we couldn't buy any on Friday so we're using Epsom Salt which half works. Also did my good deed of the day helping an older gentleman to his house after catching him while he nearly wiped out on some ice. Apparently some dick walking behind us told his wife that the slow down was because of "some stupid old man needing help", which was sad because the guy talking was at least 60 and in 20 years he'd be the one needing help.
  10. Woke up, took our dog for a 1 hour walk in the snow down to the water, cleared snow off one of the cars and a path so I can get to work tomorrow, got on trainer for 1h50min ride at a "medium" pace (a bit of recovery from the 2h45min torture session I did to myself yesterday). I'm pretty stoked my medium pace is now around 18mph (with significant amounts of climbing) when I started riding 6 months ago it was like 13mph on flat courses. Then went in the hot tub with Meaghan in the snow. Lunch at Bertucci's, Cupcakes from the local "cupcakery" which are insanely good. Now I'm home writing this message and about to do some work. May or may not watch the game later.
  11. Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great one!
  12. I just got done with the hot tub Nearly froze to death clearing the snow off the lid though. Maybe should have done that is more than a bath robe and swim trunks. Congrats Marc! Hope it all works out.
  13. yeah fucking snow. Broke a 5" diameter branch on my magnolia thank god it didn't hit the car.
  14. Went outside to discover that a 5"diameter branch on our magnolia had broken and came within inches of bashing one of our cars. Luckily as it fell it wedged off on a bush of ours and sort of stuck. I then spent an hour out in the snow pulling it down and cutting it up after moving the car out of the way. Yay snow But I guess it could have been a lot worse. Now to figure out what to do with the pile of branches and wood.
  15. That works great until the firm implodes as clients walk out from being tired of getting charged partner rates to send cease and desist letters. It's happened to several large firms (and other industries) stop expanding, fire staff, wring more work out of those remaining, increase margin, great profits, people start leaving, wither, die. Of course looking for just this years profits is a great model for us all to aim for. It works so well on Wall St. and elsewhere.
  16. Of course then no work will get done
  17. I bought a thing "Scaler" for taking plaque off my dogs teeth for $9 after taking him to a groomer for a $15 cleaning that improved things but did not get it all off. Pretty much anything is worth a try vs $400+ for the vet to do it. <Post 2k
  18. Steve that's terrible. I'm sorry for the loss of both your sister and your nephew. That's just plain horrible.
  19. Hope the recovery goes quickly! (sorry, I missed you before)
  20. Al, that sucks big time. Aura I hope the funeral goes smoothly. My condolences (again).
  21. Good point. I would have done so before I hit send on the nasty-gram.
  22. Well no luck yet from the dealer. I hate having to spend money with places that make it difficult to do business with them or are "exclusive" for no reason other than to be exclusive. I'll give it until Monday but if no joy I'll email Naim USA and let them know their dealer is ignoring possible business. Maybe they won't care either. Who knows.
  23. I'm working from home. Around here people don't know now to drive in snow and it scares the shit of out me on the road at times. I was just thinking back to doing a 45min drive in a Michigan blizzard once, felt safer than I do around here when it's raining much less snowing. There, people know how to drive in snow!
  24. No I'm saying it's a current out DAC going through a very very small value resistor as the first stage of the IV. I read the whole section carefully after you posted that. This is also the case in the Bel Canto DAC3 as I understand it from the Stereophile Review.
  25. Seems like it's correct because you want all of the current to flow through the (very low resistance) feeback resistor not the stage.
