  6. Happy Birthday!
  7. I'm not so sure about this. There are several schools of thought as to the response of mastering studios. I am currently following the Etymotic curves shown in the post above (Flat plus 5-7db roll off). To be honest if I want that curve all I have to do is aim for it so no worries. If you can find me a plot that would be cool since I'd love to give it a try.
  8. Yes that is. That is why I had that exact target curve on the DEQ. I can also upload the calibration file to my measurement software on the computer too but I haven't done that one yet because I don't have an extra mic cable and the XLR cable I usually use is being used to hook up the Phonitor.
  9. Oh and I should mention that I now have a calibrated mic from this place: Cross·Spectrum - Calibrated Behringer ECM8000 Microphones for Sale They will calibrate down to 10Hz if you ask. One hell of a deal at $100. Will likely send my other mic for calibration too.
  10. Dusty, not this weekend but some other time sure I did not do the L3000s since I generally like to ask owners before I defile their headphones by measuring them I was thinking about it today and I'm worried about the unit I have failing and being without or the unit going out of production so I'm planning on getting a second one to sit in the attic as a backup. Maybe that way I can get the power supply caps changed out too because apparently they fail sometimes.
  11. I'm in the boat that populated boards or fully built are fine with me. Vlad I and I will work something out wrt the overall build. If we are going to go with professionally populated boards I may buy some extras for backup etc.
  12. How so? As long as the output has low impedance that's pretty much all that matters. Or do all integrated have high output impedance headphone outs? Seems like a rather general statement to me. I'm pretty sure that some integrated amps have nice and low output impedance on the headphone outs.
  13. Happy Birthday Colin!
  14. word
  15. happy birthday
  16. I think you guys will be impressed with the Phonitor. The crossfeed is impressive. I'm looking forward to the meet.
  17. Happy Birthday Heretic... I mean Darwin
  18. PM Me we can likely do Sunday or Monday for a little while. Tues is our anniversary too.
  19. It has arrived Very interesting. The finish and the feel on the volume pots are amazing. Much more playing required. Unfortunately I also got a new phone today and that's swallowing some listening time.
  20. Why can't I stop lusting after this player.....
  21. This bad boy is finally going to arrive today and it's mine for 2 weeks The supplier kept selling out of them and didn't have one to send.
  22. I can't wait for my KGSS
  23. Quite right. Euphonic it is, but to me it actually isn't euphonic it's annoying The P1 is not tubey it fast and details there is just something that I generally describe as "fun" about it that is not present in the GS-X, reminds me a bit of the R10s. I'm not into headphone setups for that "fun" sound I want exactness more but that's me.
  24. I'd say so too. The GS-X + DAC3 is not lush I would say (but I like it that way).
  25. I've got a Bel Canto DAC3 and GS-X and I love the experience. I've also heard the P1 though only in passing and only with R10s that I'm not that familiar with. I have heard R10s out of my GS-X as well and I would say that the P1 is on the euphoric side of things while the GS-X is a wire with gain. It's up to you as to which you prefer.
