  1. Seconded. The motion passes.
  2. Good luck Nate! I guess I started a trend around here
  3. I'm a bit surprised by that facet as I don't notice it being that much heavier than my Pentel.
  4. It arrived! It feels great in my hand so far and I really like the retraction twist motion. Note taking tomorrow
  5. Nate, it's usually in smaller (or ladies) sizes because a guy buys a bike for his wife (not literally but figuratively) and then she loses interest. That certainly happened to me. My wife has 5k+ of bikes that have not been out of the basement in 2+years (including at least 6 months before she got pregnant). Fact is 58s will sell for a high price because there are 30 people that would want them (like yourself). Ari, the calfee will be a lot smoother than your Aluminum Cannondale and also will steer in a less agressive manner.
  6. Well that puts my consideration of a $750 wheel purchase in perspective... great deal for whoever gets it. Totally upgradable over time too.
  7. Done! Good luck and enjoy the ride Jeff!
  8. Called my shop and my buddy (the manager) recommended that I buy the SLs. Some thinking to do.
  9. Thanks for the opinion Nate. You got a blazing deal on them as they are $1000+ wheels. The price you paid is about what I'm going to pay for the Aksiums. Either way the wheels will be the most expensive thing on the entire bike. The Trek 1200 was my first road bike and I think that I'll probably never sell it. I am now using it to ride from work during the week so at least it's getting used. I was just thinking this morning that it would be funny to gradually upgrade it to a new groupset (Apex I guess) and put a Enve/Easton fork on it and make it into a new machine.
  10. Sounds like a good ride. Nate do you have SLs? Worth it?
  11. I had just made up my mind to upgrade the wheels on the commuter bike to Mavic Aksium S wheels from my shop but now there is a guy selling Ksyrium SL wheels with 200 miles on them for $750.. I could upgrade my training wheels and put the Ksyrium Elites on the commuter which I have done before and felt great.
  12. I would usually be up for that Jeff but we've got brunch planned with friends so no riding this weekend for me.
  13. Vicki, you've missed my multiple raves about it in the thread already I bought it and all the sufferfest videos that it syncs up to. If I could just keep my drive to work out up but work is really grinding on me these days and I haven't gotten in a workout all week and instead have been eating a lot. Edit: I guess I only raved once:
  14. I have a Netgear N600 router and I love it. It's coverage is easily 2x as large as my old router. That said I have a brick house so I still need a separate AP in the front of the house. To connect the AP I use a powerline wire system which I find works way better than using a repeater.
  15. More info on the sigma website: http://www.sigma-global.com/en/lenses/cas/product/art/a_18_35_18/features.html That USB dock that lets you adjust focus position etc is fricking cool.
  16. Nate, I've actually did a couple mile (10?) gravel (not dirt but full on marble size gravel) section climbing up the back side of a Ceasar's Head with my Giant TCR with the Zipps and 23mm tires on a few years back in SC and it was fine. I'm ok with (or even a fan of) dirt etc though I may put some protective tape on the frame for the event if I do it. I'm thinking of trying to do the tour of Battenkill granfondo next year if I can. That said the Vermont Six Gap does sound like fun in a hurty sort of way
  17. I've been riding my Mad Fibers Tubulars for the last couple weeks and I even went through the flat experience with using Hutchinson Fast'Air which sealed them right up (even after I used it wrong). I haven't even bothered to replace the tubular... Still don't recommend tubulars as training wheels but it does make those temping. I have a friend that rides a similar wheelest that he built himself and I don't think he has had any issues. I'm probably going to buy a set of Mavic Ksyrium Elites sometime soon for my crappy old Trek 1200 commuter bike, I'm riding it out of work and I can't deal with the crappy no-name (yes litterally unlabeled) wheels on it. The wheels will be worth more than the bike but I don't want to replace the bike and it still works fine. As far as that granfondo goes I'm tempted but I need to talk to my wife. I like the fact I can cut it down to the 75mile route if I need to.
  18. My heart goes out to all affected by this sensless attack. Steve I agree that it is total insanity as you say but I think we tend to forget that things like this (or much worse) happen a lot more often than we let oursleves realize. I'm not saying that it should be part of the mainstream or accepted but they do happen (uni-bomber etc). There are a lot of crazy and murderous people out there.
  19. For the ultimate in bombproof wheels, these are what a lot of the pros use for the cobbled classics: http://www.competitivecyclist.com/za/CCY?PAGE=BUY_PRODUCT_STANDARD&PRODUCT.ID=36042&MODE= Not practical in your usage being tubulars but they are awesome. I should not have looked them up because I want a set again. I wouldn't worry about the Look Keos failing. I weighed 270+ when I started riding on mine (including some limited standing etc) and I've never had any issue. I rode them for a long time in the 240-260 range before I got serious about loosing weight too. I'm thinking of signing up for a very hard day on the bike this fall: http://alpineloopgranfondo.com/
  20. Mavic Ksyrium Elites are bomb proof. I've been 250 and hit giant pot holes in them. That said custom built are a solid choice.
  21. Happy birthday!
  22. It was Voler. I like their stuff. Right now we have Panache which is supposed to be nicer and more high end but does not fit me as well.
  23. If it has neon anything I am out. Not saying that should be a deciding factor for anyone else. Got in about 40 miles of climbing and hammering on the pedals. Good times. http://www.trainingpeaks.com/av/FULKFGS5VR522YFACOH2PSBAQQ Got to figure out a better way to share stuff. BTW Calfee+MadFiber is the awesome, it just soaks up everything but doesn't flex at all. It's awesome!
  24. Well I hope you have a nice trip. It's going to be a lovely day. I totally understand about the kid sleep thing, been there too. Just got done walking around old town with the family and off for a 9am bike ride.<br />
  25. What you in town for?
