Picked up our new rooftop box. It is huge but that's the point.

The Reston grand prix and air force classic are a lot of fun to watch. NRC is very high level racing and a lot of fun to watch. I will see if I can come out with the family.

Jelous Brent, I'd love to watch it in person. I would personally vote road race. Here's hoping the UCI worlds actually make it to Richmond in 2015 as hoped. My wife has been open to the idea of going to Utah for the Tour of Utah or Colorado for the Pro Cycling Challenge. Either way that's not happening this year.

Your Navy job is way cooler than mine Nate. I spent the last two days in a room with a bunch of university professors asking a bunch of questions and being talked down to when I explained that we already looked at their great idea and it didn't work.... I also found out that senior managment here doesn't actually value managing research engineers effectively and solving problems. Therefore I am going to have to some how keep up a full or almost full research load along with helping out department wide so as to be able to make a case for getting an actual promotion not just an in-title and more responsibility promotion.

That did not come across to me. Sounded like you were saying it would not work (which it will). Your point about sound quality is a good one though because without some noise shaping the noise floor would sound like shit.

You do hear it every time you use a DSD dac.

It's one bit digital stream. All the dac is doing is making sure that you get the requisite current delivery and low pass filtering (which is equivalent to a convolution in time). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse_density_modulation

Thanks for the feeback so far. I think we'll will plan on skipping it for now but it might be nice if we start road tripping more. I had already noticed the compression and found it annoying but it was improved after I changed the stereo settings back to normal instead of Treble +7 and Bass +7... I don't know what retarded monkey set them that way but they can DIAF. We do have to switch radio stations driving down to the lake house but it's not like Richmond is the middle of nowhwere or something and there are good stations down there.

Sounds like you made the right choice to me. Keep working towards the Kirk I haven't been out on a bike in weeks and I miss it but my wife needs me around so so be it.

So as part of the new car we got a 4 month trial for Sirius XM and I'm wondering what people around here think of the service. Worth the $200 a year? That's a lot of CDs. Favorite stations? Edit: I see the mostly music for $10 a month. That's a bit more palatable.

Not that I own a pair anymore but I thought they designed them with the Benchmark DAC1 at introduction and it has a low Z output. Of course that may have been just what they were using at the CES show....

Jeff I use all the gears in my compact setup. There are lots of climbs around here that will get you as low as you can go.

I got a smog check done on my minivan too. Stupid salesman forgot to get it done when we bought it.
