The word "discrete" does not appear in any of the marketing copy I have seen (and I just checked TTVJ, AudioCubes, and On A Higher Note, which is the importer).

Why is the use of opamps in that role a bad thing?

I'm pretty sure he's never heard one so his "fail" comment is based solely on design assumptions and technical "specs" and not on sound. That is a fail in my book.

Todd said that he got Steven's amp back and one of the screws securing the RCA jacks was over-torqued. Once he loosened it, there was no problem and the cables went in and out just fine. He also said he could not hear any hiss or hum on the unit, which he has been using in his system, which I assume still has the Meridian 808.

My P-1 came with two power cords and two manuals as well.

The Duet probably is good enough but it tops out at 96kHz and the 192kHz needledrop idea seems quite interesting. I know JP has recorded ours at 96 but I have heard them to compare with the 16/44 versions.

I know someone on HF said that was true but have you confirmed it?

Sad. True, but sad. Is the link on Hoffman about the Korg MR-1000 or the MR-1? The MR-1000 has intrigued me for a year or so, and Sennheiser/Kimber had a couple of them at CanJam that they were using as sources. Is it really problematic from a format standpoint if it was simply used for A/D of high-rez needledrops?

This new 3.0 release makes me think that a new iPhone will come out at the same time this summer. I guess I will wait with my old Razer for a couple more months...
