I skimmed it until I got to the part comparing the Matrix to the Luxman. Right then, my eyes rolled back, and I wanted to punch someone. So the Matrix is a bit worse in every way but doesn't get embarrassed? Damn, who would've fucking thought? I've never read anything to that effect in an audio review before. Anyways, if he's not a noob, he certainly seems like a speaker enthusiast who crossed over into headphones without delving too deeply into the subculture. I certainly don't know about like half of his equipment. I'm not gonna knock his general audio knowledge, but I still say the headphone knowledge and ears may be suspect.

This post reminds me of those ghetto cups that Craig (Eddie Current) brought to the last NorCal meet. Basically, they're just these big honkin plastic things stuffed loosely with cotton; they close off the outside of the AD2000s and stick into that seam part around the mesh. I didn't get to play with them too much, but maybe someone else here did. I do like Craig's setup everytime I listen to it, so I'm gonna just take the leap of faith and assume the cups really help with whatever is weird about AD2000s. Maybe some of y'all AD2000 owners with a DIY bent could mess around with that. I'm not super picky about soundstaging/imaging so it's not something I'm particularly interested in "fixing"...

Most likely the latter. I think Dynalo + AD2000 is one of the best amp/phone combos around; as a combo, it's like unbeatable for the price ime. Maybe it's a source thing? Not sure whether your Adcom is modded or what you use for transport, but if you can try it with a fancier source, you might change your mind. For instance, the bass on mine never got really visceral until I got an RME card as transport, which really surprised me. But whatever. I say if you don't like it, then no need to bother trying to figure out why others like it.

Yeah, I haven't found a BB character that really clicked with me. I really want to like it, but ultimately, the gameplay isn't up to GG standards. Continuum Shift looks to be a bit better, but I'm still not ready to put it up there with the GG games, which have been through many iterations already.
