October 24, 201213 yr The boy wants to be Dr. Horrible for Halloween and of course waited until now to figure out the costume. The "Howie" lab coat below is the preferred style, although buttons would be even better than snaps apparently, but to get it in time will be over $100 of shipping. Any of you scientific type 'Casers have access to such a coat that you could FedEx to me? Willing to pay but thinking that $100+ for shipping is a bit much. Let me know if you can help. Thanks.
October 24, 201213 yr There are T-shirts on e-bay for < $20 e.g. You could use the savings for the welders gogles, gauntlets + boots .. Googling around it seems other people have run in to the same problem in trying to recreate the outfit for previous halloweens. etc
October 24, 201213 yr Know any seamstresses? http://www.instructables.com/id/Dr-Horrible-Lab-Coat-and-Freeze-Ray/ http://itssewcreative.blogspot.com/2012/07/a-horrible-pattern.html http://doctorhorrible.net/costumes/ our could you contact this out to some child labor sweat shop and have the result fedex'd back to you?
October 24, 201213 yr our could you contact this out to some child labor sweat shop and have the result fedex'd back to you? That was probably the option with the $100 shipping problem. EDIT: Actually, what am I thinking? Of course he knows a seamstress, he knows a friggin' costumer, and she's in your area -- my sister. Let me know Al, this is right up her alley, it's only a matter of her availability, I'd be happy to put you in touch with her. You'd have to pay her though, this is what she does for a living, but I'm sure you can work something out. EDIT #2: Sister asks -- because she actually does have some work right now -- is it for the 31st proper, or is there a party beforehand, I.E. Saturday? I.E. what's the actual deadline? EDIT #3: So I'm guessing from "shipping...in time" comment, that it's not for the 31st proper, it's for Friday or Saturday, neh? I say just dew it. You only get to be Dr. Horrible once. Actually, you get to be Dr. Horrible for the rest of your life if you do it right. EDIT the last: confirmed -- you're not going to pay any less paying for my sister's services (but...it'll be better). I say you can do one of two things -- choke it and pay, but take it out of your son's allowance, since it's his fault for waiting until the last minute, or check out the local medical supply stores. I'm a gonna get one of those for everyday wear. I'll see if it comes in pre-blood-splattered, maybe it'll be cheaper. I'd look dapper in a mandarin style cloak.
October 24, 201213 yr Nobody wears that style where I work, sorry Al. Same here. That looks more like a dentist coat.
October 24, 201213 yr http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PRXTE2?ie=UTF8&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links ^that was a link from one of the many how-to sites...looks like processing might take too long, though... I saw a place that sells the custom job for $250(!)...& a few sites suggested the same ebay/etsy seller, 96bellyacres, but she's stopped taking orders...
October 25, 201213 yr Author Thanks team, but I went ahead and ordered from Amazon with the least amount of shipping cost I could but still more than I wished. Oh well, the kid needs spoiling every once in awhile.
October 25, 201213 yr Thanks team, but I went ahead and ordered from Amazon with the least amount of shipping cost I could but still more than I wished. Oh well, the kid needs spoiling every once in awhile. Glad to hear it! It makes me sad when kids think they're too old for Halloween. Go get 'em Dr. Horrible!
October 25, 201213 yr I still have my blue lab coat with dinosaur iron-ons plastered all over it. I can now fit into my gorilla suit !! (the kind with hair and a face mask) You're kind of like that guy on the dance floor that's dancing to a completely different beat.
October 26, 201213 yr You're kind of like that guy on the dance floor that's dancing to a completely different beat. No, I don't dance.
October 26, 201213 yr Wait, can one be knowingly genuinely ironic? I know it's technically possible, but it sounds oxymoronic.
