November 17, 201312 yr I'm thinking about using the 4 gang ALPS pot for my dynahi. I want to mount it on a pcb but I don't see any available so I thought if I took two epsilon 27 boards I could make one. The first board would fit the front, the second board looks like it would need the front trimmed off to fit the back section. The grounds are tied together on those boards so I'm not sure how that comes into play since I've never wired a pot for balanced audio before. How do you wire a volume pot for balanced audio and do you think this would work?
November 17, 201312 yr It might be easier to just use perf-board if the pin spacing matches up. Otherwise I'd just neatly air wire it and not worry about pcbs.
November 17, 201312 yr i can whip up a board if you want to have some made. birgir has boards for the alpha pots
November 17, 201312 yr does not work with some sources. ends up with a dc offset, or causes issues like eddie current has with the electra

November 17, 201312 yr Author i can whip up a board if you want to have some made. birgir has boards for the alpha pots Thanks Kevin, that would be cool. screw terminals on the output would be nice. I'd do a small board run for that.

November 18, 201312 yr Author is each section 10mm from the next, and hole size or a pdf of the quad pot yes, hole size is 1.2mm based on the diagram here http://www.ebay.com/itm/260964413265?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
November 18, 201312 yr On further reflection I wouldn't recommend using an RK27 for a balanced dynahi. Find something better.
November 18, 201312 yr Author like this http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/rk27quad.jpg Yeah, that looks perfect. When hooked up where do I connect the ground?
November 18, 201312 yr Author On further reflection I wouldn't recommend using an RK27 for a balanced dynahi. Find something better. Yeah I know... I really want a gold point in there but I just want to get sound out of it at this point. Plus I just blew my wad on a set of SR200's Edited November 18, 201312 yr by sbelyo
November 18, 201312 yr Yeah, that looks perfect. When hooked up where do I connect the ground? All of the ground connections are shared so anywhere with GND next to it.
November 18, 201312 yr Author All of the ground connections are shared so anywhere with GND next to it. Do I connect it to chassis ground? or ground on the amp board?
November 18, 201312 yr Author You are the man!!! anybody know of a good board house I can have a small run done at?
November 18, 201312 yr I'm pretty sure I used a pair of these (though red) on the quad Alps I have, will check tonight. FT cheaper than having a board run done. http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/251069334948?lpid=82
November 18, 201312 yr Author That was going to be my other choice. I was going to use two of AMB's boards
November 18, 201312 yr If you can do with 3, I'd think OSH Park would work really well--probably $15-$20 for the size.
November 19, 201312 yr Author http://gilmore.chem.northwestern.edu/rk27quad.zip oh no, a board outline file can't be found. help Edited November 19, 201312 yr by sbelyo
November 19, 201312 yr not sure what software you are using, but this board file is the same as every other one I have done. may not be compatible with some panelizing software, but have produced thousands of boards with the software I use.
