It has been in my office so most likely bb free. It is a really fun amp and works with high and low impedance amp. The only downside is it has a hint of hum which I don't notice at all except when there is no music. According to Doug, this has been fixed in the newer version. I'm not sure if I ever want to actually meet with you, I mean, in person and all. I have nightmares that involve itching. LMFAO. But just saying? I would really like to meet up ... for a couple reasons ... one, to borrrow your Stax headphones (which are probably just sitting there) and two .. to borrow the torpedo amp (and your PS500's) cause it might fit perfect on my desk top. I'm totally stoked on the SR-307's but it would be fun to check out your Lambdas... Lemme know...any time, weekend is fine. There are some CCS parts changes, different heater diodes, and heater diode snubbers to add. It is all pretty easy stuff. Also, depending upon who built your prototype, there is possibly a bias upgrade that makes a pretty big difference in the sound quality that they may not have included. I have actually been using the 404LEs quite a bit recently (more than any other headphones at home) but I could give them up for a couple of weeks. I am still hesitant to let people borrow stuff from the house because of the bbs but mostly likely they are fine. For example, all of our clothing is still is giant ziplock bags (it was dried on hot and then put in the to keep the bbs away) and our bed is still isolated in the middle of the room with climbups under the legs. It's is probably about time to get back to normalcy (it has been at least 7 weeks since I have gotten a bite). The Torpedo amp has been in the office the entire time so it is much less of a risk (although not completely risk free). Shelly, if you want me to mod the torpedo for you I will. Thanks Nate! I do really like the amp so I might ask you if you could do this later in the year. For now (because of the very small risk of spreading bed bugs), I wouldn't want to ship it to you. For Doug, I just got off the phone with my friend who has my L-2 on loan. He couldn't praise it enough with the HP-2's but he had one request, an electrostatic amp with the same basic chassis design. I've spent quite a bit of time with the HD800 and it's just too approximate to the Stax cans I have. Not to mention the price tag... Don't get me wrong ... I was very impressed with the HD800's ... just not the "stax counterpoint" I'm shooting for with this budget, dynamic build. I'm looking for cans in the $500 and less range ... shopping mostly used on forums and what not. So far, I'm really intrigued by the HE-500's (which I've never heard) ... and also .. the Shure 1840's (which I've never heard) ... the Grado PS500's are a no brainer as I've borrowed Shelly's in the past and I quite like them as an all around, go-to can. And they can be found for reasonable cost .. HMMMM.... I just can't get the Shure 1840's out of my craw. Anyone heard them?
