March 18, 20233 yr Author I am definitely a fan of White Oak, especially quarter sawn. Red Oak, not so much.

March 19, 20233 yr I'm looking for some light duty parallel clamps. Probably about 24". Does anyone have a suggestion for something that you either particularly like or dislike? I'm looking at the bessey UK3.024 unless I can find a better and less expensive option.
March 19, 20233 yr If you want to try HF, I have not had any issues with the Bremen parallel clamps from them. They are around $35 I think You can also watch for the Lowe’s sale for the 24” cabinet masters for $28 which I think is a steal as they are quite good.
March 19, 20233 yr Back at the east coast ping pong table, making engineer of the year plaques for work.
March 20, 20233 yr Naaman, not sure how you managed this with the 8’ slabs from the Roubo. This bitch is getting heavy to run through the machinery with my little 66” slabs.
March 20, 20233 yr Roller stands really helped, but mostly it was a lot of heavy lifting. Jodi took a picture while I was working on it.
March 20, 20233 yr I assume that was after one of the 7,000 morphine pills required after your back went out. Did not know those pills worked so well for hair growth.

March 20, 20233 yr Author How many cross dressers are you carrying at one time? 2 of these are the recommended limit... But if they're skinny like this, 3 is OK... Edited March 20, 20233 yr by swt61
March 21, 20233 yr Trying to decide if I go all walnut for the bottom ship lap shelf or incorporate the Jatoba, maple and walnut from the top. Also got the final glue-ups of the top done so now only one more time wrestling them through the planer.
March 22, 20233 yr I don't particularly like the look of the jatoba with the walnut. So I'd do a single type
March 22, 20233 yr I see what you are saying. My more pressing problem now is figuring out how to trim both tops to the same length. The shitty gravity stand for the Bosch will not support the tops for a straight cut so I either have to do it with the track saw and make cuts from both sides or build a temporary saw horse set up to support the tops while the shitty mitre saw cuts the ends. Alternatively, trying to track down someone local with a real mitre saw station.
March 22, 20233 yr Seems fairly cumbersome. I did look at the big Mafell track saw there but it does not cut deep enough. I think I will just rig something up with a roller stand or saw horse.
March 22, 20233 yr I did it on a stand with added roller stands. Or just do it really slowly with a dovetail saw.
March 22, 20233 yr Author All the more reason I absolutely needed this... You can't see it from this angle, but it rides on the Makita/Festool track.
March 22, 20233 yr Plain walnut was a bit boring so I worked in a bird’s eye maple racing stripe for pizzazz!!
March 23, 20233 yr As is typical, Doug was right. Like the less blingy version now that it is installed.
