April 26, 200917 yr I thought this was funny to see what PC World thought was wacky headphones. The 10 Wackiest Headphones - PC World The 10 Wackiest Headphones From headphones that come with their own amplifier to transforming, wearable MP3 players, we've rounded up 10 of the weirdest, wackiest headphone designs you'll ever see, Campbell Simpson, PC World Australia Thursday, April 09, 2009 09:31 AM PDT Audio-Technica ATH-W5000 Audio-Technica's ATH-W5000 is a set of headphones with a decidedly retro feel. April 26, 200917 yr Zelci Outi These Zelco Outi earphones are designed to be attached to the outside of your ears rather than nestled inside. Transmitting their vibrations directly into your ear cartilage, the Outi are designed to reverberate sound through your entire body.Hmmm...so who's going to be the first to try these?
April 26, 200917 yr They definitely didn't see the STAX Lambdas before publishing this. I don't think the Lambdas are all that wacky either. What they need to see are the Sigmas, Floats, and the Surrounders.
April 26, 200917 yr I would have included the Oakley sunglasses that had a built in mp3 player and earbuds.
April 27, 200917 yr Lambdas? Floats? Sigmas? Piezo ribbons? Bone-conduction headphones? And, lest we all forget, plasma headphones? Sorry, plenty more weird headphones out there than just what they found. Though the K1000 is pretty cool, and the HE90 certainly deserves mention based on asking price alone. And where's the Sennheiser Surrounder?
April 27, 200917 yr I don't think the Lambdas are all that wacky either. What they need to see are the Sigmas, Floats, and the Surrounders. They probably know about all of those, but don't get click through ad revenue from them and are thus ignored. Edited April 27, 200917 yr by Beefy think, then type
April 27, 200917 yr I dunno, it's hard to beat the K1000 on weirdness. I remember miserably failing in my attempts to explain them to others.
April 27, 200917 yr I guess I look pretty wacky wearing my K1000, but I wouldn't qualify it as a wacky headphone. To me that implies that it's not a serious product, which we all know it most certainly is. Goofy looking...yes, wacky in general...no.
May 1, 200917 yr I would add as contenders the Sony MDR-F1 and Stax Sigmas, which looked like big boxes around your ears. And then along this theme, for headphone radios there's the Panasonic radio worn by Ben Stiller in "Starsky & Hutch", where he looks like a space martian with these silver bowls over each ear with tall antennas protruding.
May 2, 200917 yr I would have included the Oakley sunglasses that had a built in mp3 player and earbuds. Yeah brah...
May 4, 200917 yr I dunno, it's hard to beat the K1000 on weirdness. I remember miserably failing in my attempts to explain them to others. i just let people listen, then they dont question them ever again
