July 26, 200917 yr comment_259460 i want to know if the 20 step up is worth it i cant get a clear sense with just stats. please help me out, buying my first pair of headphones, i tried my dads old SR-60s (idk if its the same as the "i") (i if it applies) i listen to mostly jam and live music (audience recordings, or soundboard) but i like techno (bass) and good mids do these work out, or better low cost choice? July 26, 200917 yr comment_259548 In my opinion just do the SR60 until you are ready to step up to the SR225. And then its the MS2i, or HF-1, HF-2, then RS-1, though I've never heard the RS-2. edit: also I've never heard the MS-1 Report
July 26, 200917 yr comment_259549 MS-1 is a better deal and then you can go straight to the MS-2/325 or even RS series/MS-Pro. You are paying the price of an SR-80 for a phone at least on par with the SR-125 IMO. Report
July 26, 200917 yr comment_259551 the MS1 is a decent can...i dont think it would be my choice for techo though...but for jazz and rock its a great starter grado. However, it does get alot better from the SR225 and up...ive had the SR60, SR125, SR225, HF1 and now the RS1..and im pretty happy almost to the top of the grado line... Report

What is good for techno? cause i was looking at sealed ones too (birthday coming up). i do listen to plenty of jazz and studio rock though so i should be fine to get it and it be worth it. do MS-1s need a supplimental amp, cause i know they arent as good as a desktop amps but i was just going to get a soundcard (cheaper) Report
July 27, 200917 yr comment_259886 The MS-1's sound fine unamped but scale very well with amplification. I owned SR 125's and 225's and to me they were not a significant upgrade. The SR-325/MS-2 has a different enough sound signature to be considered an upgrade/additional can as does the RS-1/MS-Pro. Report
July 27, 200917 yr comment_259901 The MS-1 were my gateway drug to this hobby. I sold mine not too long ago and, though I have gone the deep end now, if I had to choose a low-end can, it'd definitely be the MS-1. This coming from a Grado whore, by the way. Report
July 28, 200917 yr Author comment_260191 haha i actually found my dads old SR-60s and i love them, obv not good for noise cancel, but as i said birthday coming up hope to buy the MS-1s and get some sort of sealed entry level cans. but i dont find them uncomfortable, and i love the sound of them Report

I didn't know this before That's if your amp swings enough voltage for the Senns, which, judging by sound, most portable devices don't. I hate it when my wonderful colleagues in the media do stuff like that. Report
