March 2, 201115 yr The lack of ram specification is pretty weird, I can't understand why that was left out unless for some unfathomable reason they left it at 256. they do it because they're not selling the tech, they're selling the experience.

March 3, 201115 yr I am trying to convince myself not to get the new Ipad... not sure it is working. I am pathetic.

March 3, 201115 yr Does anyone have the inside scoop on if the iPad 2 will be a decent streaming music server? Using what interface?
March 3, 201115 yr Airplay? Please excuse my ignorance but, How would this get pumped into my USB/optical DAC? Would I need some type of wireless adapter or <cringe> need to buy an Airplay enabled DAC? (if they even exist) I've seen Airplay enabled speaker setups and a few Sony and Denon amps that support this. I'm also seeking something that outputs music at least on par with flac files. Or is the realistic alternative a MacBook with optical out or a PC server like I have now? Edited March 3, 201115 yr by livewire
March 3, 201115 yr the appletv and the airport express are both "turn any dac into an airplay device" boxes...

March 4, 201115 yr I am so tempted to pick up the refurbished iPad 64Gb wi-fi only for $529. However, I wonder how soon there will be used ones available for less. Of course warranty would be none so ...

Some USB DACs using Camera Connection kit (unknown on iPad 2). Also plenty of USB coax/opti adapters (unknown on iPad 2). I've used the Airport Express, U-Control uca202 (toslink) and HA Info USB-coax to connect Parasounds and Lavrys. Also FLAC Player iOS app will let you play those FLACs. We don't know AirPlay quality do we (from iDevices)? Sounds good to me, but not AB tested. Regular AirPlay is bit-perfect. Edited March 4, 201115 yr by blessingx
March 4, 201115 yr I'm completely confident I will not be getting the new ipad. Do I see nail bitings under your desk?
March 4, 201115 yr Monkey, I'm not sure that I understand "73", but thanks anyway. blessingx thanks for your input as well. Your mention of quality and bit perfect has me wondering. Might there be delays or drop-outs on this type of device versus a caable connection? Here again, I'm a total apple n00b so exscuze my estupidness.
