I can see this catching on with preteen girls...

I think it would be rather practical to have that placed as a lip-disk... You could use your tongue to flip it open and if you had it set to speak phone, you wouldn't have an issue with hearing it.

What we need is a pop-up window that asks "did you read your welcome pm?" whenever someone with less than 10 posts tries to post. If they click "yes" it takes them to the welcome pm. If they click "no" it takes them to the welcome pm.

Not a pop-up, but there are "notices" which sit at the top of pages depending.

Actually, why don't we arrange it that when somebody subscribes to HC, their account isn't immediately activated. Part of the subscription process would be to send them an email with the "Welcome PM" verbiage and a link to activate their account. The link could be entitled "I have read the Welcome notice".

This is a pretty common thing on other forums so I'm sure that VB does it too.
