December 18, 20232 yr @n_maher How did the cast iron Detroit style turn out? For the last one I made with red sauce, I heated the sauce and ladeled it on after the pizza came out of the oven. Seems like it is a good idea but I was a bit sloppy and the sauce was a bit thin so my stripes were bleeding into each other.
December 19, 20232 yr @Voltron - very good. Had to cover it and cook it just a little longer to get the crust right but it was very similar to the thin steel pan in the end. I owe you a great debt for showing me the recipe.

January 16, 20242 yr Joanne made some shortbread and chocolate dog biscuits (not dog cookies) for book club. (And why are they dog biscuits not dog cookies?) Spoiler alert, the secret was silicone molds from Amazon.
January 17, 20242 yr Had some free time yesterday afternoon. Decided it was time to revisit biscotti.

January 28, 20242 yr Going over to Compound Mayberry later for dinner and games with Al's niece Dorothy and Al's sister Corrine. No actual cooking, but I built a fruit salad. I prepped Pink Lady apple, Asian Pear, navel orange, pink grapefruit, cantelope, strawberry, peach and pineapple. Couldn't find any ripe bananas. In the past I've always made a glaze of sour cream and powdered sugar. But I found a recipe online that simply uses fresh lime juice/zest and honey. So I whisked those together. Much more natural and light and the zest really gives a great flavor, while the lime juice keeps the fruit from discoloring. The honey is subtle. , Edited January 28, 20242 yr by swt61
