That’s incredibly generous. I’d definitely be interested in giving the Paradigms a listen. Just let me know what might work for you when you’re back. Thanks again!

Dorothy and Corrinne were already planning to drop off tests and food and I added mucinex and suggested the crazy idea of asking you what you want rather than guessing and overdoing it, which is their default.

Al's Sister Corrine is bringing me some easy meals, fruits, Musinex and tests. I'm guessing someone read and passed on the news. Good friends are my wealth!

Sorry to hear Ian.... I'm in Maine right now, but I have a pair of Paradigm Shift's at home, and also a pair of Emotiva Airmotiv 4's (not 4s's) if you're interested in trying either. And if you like, yours to keep....
-
Sorry about that Ian. I like my Edifier S2000Pros but they are not exactly cutting edge and I haven't shopped for almost anything audio in a while. Good luck!

Looks like my long-serving Quads have decided to stop working. I haven’t tried to disassemble the offending one. But there’s definitely been an intermittent issue where it wouldn’t play without power cycling, and that has appeared to turn fatal and now it won’t turn on. I was only able to enjoy these because of the deal I got on them from Todd. So I didn’t know what people have for experience with some of these newer brands/models. I have a pair of Audioengine A2s at work, which needless to say, are several steps below. But with the market flooded with lots of reasonably priced options, does anyone have any recommendations for active monitors? I don’t know that I have a hard budget, but I’d like to keep considerations below $4-500. Thanks!

There's a reason Satan invented delivery services...

Tried testing for Covid last night. It was unsuccessful, because the liquid in my test had almost entirely evaporated. I would kill for some Musinex. It's the only thing that seems to help with all symptoms, including a cough for me. I don't see myself making the trip to a store though.

Late condolences, Steve. Can’t really even imagine. I’m so very glad that you were able to speak with her and were able to get some closure.

Wrapped up vacation in FLAlalala. Travel back tomorrow, weather permitting (we’re already getting warnings) and hopeful that kids won’t go too mental about departing 85 and sunny for 50 and rainy.

A commenter on Imgur thought the trombonist was Tyree Glenn as well. Also the system was stereo and was set up to record. It was installed at the request of Lucille Wilson while Satch was in the hospital. https://virtualexhibits.louisarmstronghouse.org/2020/07/31/louis-armstrongs-1969-1971-tapes-reels-1-5/

Well the first two color images had to be taken after 1970 as the album pictured in those two, Swingin’ the Louis Armstrong SongBook by Swing Society with Nannie Porres, was recorded in 1970. Anyway, John Thomas also played trombone with the Louis Armstrong band after replacing Kid Ory and was playing on tour with Armstrong in the 60s.

Some trumpet player or other with his home hi-fi (I'm not sure it was stereo) in the late 1960s. Photo most likely taken by Jack Bradley. I'd love to know the identity of the trombone player. Google has, and I want to be clear about this, utterly fucking useless in this regard.

Sorry to hear Steve. You have a virii sibling in Esmé who just tested positive for mono. Their IG is like a crime scene of food sharing photos and videos.
