Recently got a Fitbit Flex from Julie and it has been alarming as to how sedentary my lifestyle had become. Was barely doing 1500 steps most of which came from walking to and from the library. Anyhow, if anyone else has a fitness tracker and wants to do challenges feel free to add me on the fitbit website - [email protected]. Also, just found a great website, www.matchup.io which syncs data from various trackers from different companies so people with different trackers can still do challenges together. The website also has challenges that you can do with other people on the internet - I just signed up for this one - https://matchup.io/group/4746/yellowstone-park-…

Has anybody seen the double-page ad in Rolling Stone that is an article on the history of vinyl? Does anybody have any idea what it means? It's a pretty decent article. It has jump lines at the beginning and end to make it look like it continues later in the magazine, but it doesn't. There's a little ad-within-the-ad for some TV show, which has nothing, AFAIK, to do with vinyl, or even music at all. Very odd

I've been thinking about installing some USB power outlets in my house. With devices that USB wall chargers I've had mixed results. Some of my phones will only charge with a wall-wart that came with it for some reason. I'm a little worried that I'll have the same problem with USB outlets. Do any of you early adapter geeks have any experience with these. For those that haven't heard of them here's an example: TruePower UCS Power Outlet With Built in USB Ports - TruePower UCS Power Outlet With Built in USB Ports

Since using Windows 7 ... about two years now, I've been mostly happy (I've been on the same original install since Jan of 2011, when I built my current 2700K music/gaming machine and things are clicking along fine thus far). But one process I've always wanted to streamline was the switching among various audio devices (since Windows 7, and I think that trash heap that was Vista, introduced a more granular approach to audio channel management, which, in the long run is a good thing but it also brings with it some tedium). Typically, one must right click the default Windows 7 speaker icon in the task bar, then select "playback devices" and then select whatever pl…

This gets crazy discounted once a year and it's that time. If you want a wealth of fiction, music reviews, film commentary, cartoons, etc. here you go. Although the software isn't up to the content (though updates to it are better than some early reviews), 4,000 issues over 80 years for under $20 is incredible. Content is searchable by keywords, but like all these summary DVD collections, they're not going to go back and get permissions from every writers estate so these are decent resolution images - basically PDFs - of every page, not the text. You get over it quickly though and you can always 'print to PDF' with OS X or Acrobat to get outside. There's an update disc fr…
