  2. That's very nice PICaudio you went to a lot of trouble on those. I agree that using the remote shaft method is not as straightforward as it might seem. I thought it would be good practice to keep the inputs and the mains switch at the back so did this with my Compact KGSShv. I originally used 6mm aluminium tube for the shafts and made nylon bushes for the front panel. To get a nice feel to the operation this has to be made well with shafts lining up accurately etc. paradoxper demanded a different layout with big central attenuator so had to abandon this principle. It is as much work to do the wiring as it is to make the remote operators work well. I have not found any increase in noise by wiring up to the front and the benefit for me is that the feel of a pot/attenuator mounted directly to a thick front panel is better. I did find an extension kit on the internet which had brass connectors and a brass front panel bush. The rod was 6mm solid ally. http://www.vt4c.com/shop/program/main.php?cat_id=35&group_id=2 EXT- KIT- 26 and 30 This is how my original build looked. i still have those input pcbs lying around if anyone wants one

  3. You did indeed inspire us Stretch as it is Breakfast for Dinner tonight. Not as elaborate as yours, just eggs, sausages, hash browns and toast, but close enough for us.

  4. Apparently the Army has changed it's medical policy and the finger wave is now optional. So I dodged that bullet for another year, especially thankful because my doctor has bear paws for hands.

  5. Got sick of being the only person on HC not buying watches lately. Went out looking for a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms or a Tudor Black Bay Blue but found neither. Ended up with another Superocean. Got the mesh and the gator with deployant clasps.

  6. Had to force quit Safari four times in the last hour. I think the universe is trying to tell me to buy a 5K retina iMac with 32 gigs of RAM, although I acknowledge that this is open to interpretation.

  7. Took mine in for repair today. The video test immediately failed and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. They have the logic board in the store so all the work can be done locally (which means less chance of damage).

  9. Good luck, Naaman, the worst part is the antici-pation. Have a great day otherwise and whisk[e]y makes for a fine anesthetic. Cheers!

  11. Checking out Wussy. "In which the best band in America remains the best song band in America while passing the Sonic Youth consortium on the outside to become the best distorto-guitar band in America, and although the competition in both categories has thinned out, how many ever dared combine it? Television? Nirvana? The Thompson Couple? That is the territory here. What once seemed the overkill of replacing minimalist Dawn Burman with muscleman Joe Klug opened a thruway to the big beat. What once seemed the neighborly gesture of taking in Ass Ponys steel hand John Erhardt powered sonic dimensions arena-rock dumbos risk tinnitus to achieve with Marshall stacks. The lyrics mix heroic feats of individual transcendence with a romantic striving vexed equally by economics and psychology as the melodies flow on unabated. Gender parity also guaranteed. A PLUS" - R. Christgau

  14. Thanks for the advice, Nate. I retested this morning and all 8 tubes passed with no bright, white flashing. Two of them still blinked during the K shorts test, but I won't worry about that now. I told the seller about this and that the tubes were all acceptable. I also was able to solve another problem today. The fuse blew, probably due to contact cleaner in the volume pot. That was a couple of weeks ago. I removed the fuse and put the holder back into the upright tube that holds the fuse. Without a fuse, I managed to jam holder in the tube. I was finally able to remove it today with the help of WD40 and a paper clip, that I straightened and put a small hook on the bottom. A new fuse is now installed. I'll install the tubes tomorrow and see how everything works. Edit: Installed the JJ's and gave it a try. My systems is now playing the beautiful, beautiful music again.

  15. This is after we went to play in the snow earlier. The car had been cleared mostly off a few hours ago. My driveway is at the bottom of 3 hills. So far, work is delayed 2 hours and school is called off. I don't think I'll be going in tomorrow. **BRENT**

  22. Traditional "mixed grill". Steak, gammon steak, chicken, sausages, egg, chips, onions, peas and the crucial tinned pineapple ring.

  23. @Ric: Did you and Jeffy make those with his watch? @Rob: I saw that one during the Academy Awards and reversed to watch the beginning twice. Funny that I noticed it was a VPI and seemingly HD800s, but I didn't notice it was Woz.
