I did last night. There were none in the Stax jack except for the Bias voltage. I should know better than to play with high voltage late at night and sleep deprived. Once I noticed there were no voltage readings I realized something was not hooked up: the O+ and O-'s on the amp board Everything works fine now with absolutely no noise even with the volume maxed out. Replacing the Hammond transformer heaters with Antek's helped, as well as rearranging wires to avoid the AC lines being close to the signal lines. One of my input tubes however has an intermittent problem and will have to buy new ones. I redid the top panel, different color because the red colored panel looked too ugly for my taste, and added ventilation slits. Now it runs much cooler. Quite happy with the results.

sorry to hear that, I liked those a lot. The studio got lucky. I hope you raked them over the coals for price. If you want the amp and nate cicadas back, I've still got them.

Complete-USA they drove down from NY. We were able to get the stands and speakers in a rented van. Much easier with three people than two...wow. i like that they will be put to good use making music. i was able to avoid eBay and their absurd 15% fee, which helped both of us. my credit rating just jumped 62 points, back into 'excellent'. lol. Also, I have been window shopping Rockville condos closer to my office, and it may be nice not to have so much stuff if I get serious about it.

Very sad news. I'm sorry to learn of your loss. It's been nearly 9 years since I lost my dad (to cancer as well) and in some ways, it feels like it was just yesterday. He will no doubt stay with you in the memories that you carry in your heart. May he rest in peace. Semper Fi, and much respect for his service. Just wanted to mention (since I was the one who started this thread way back when), that the "some fuck or another" in the thread title wasn't meant to be disrespectful at all. If you go back to read my opening post, you'll see the context and intent, and that it's really about acknowledging the contributions that many people in society have made to our lives, whether we knew them personally or not. With parents and other close family members and friends who we've recently lost, it's each person's call whether you think this is the right place, or you would prefer to have a dedicated thread. In any case, I think that is probably worth repeating every now and then since this has become such a long thread. But ya... fuck cancer, indeed.

I waited 4 years for this. Completed the HV last year but waited another year before getting the can. Next I will try to build the HV Carbon. I have had caps and ICs exploding on me before when building the HV. But this time, I plugged the 009 into the HV, and it exploded.... Into some amazing music.

Beats the current freeze, in the UK, according to my mother. The day was curiously Bacon / Squirrel / Ice Cream free, but I have all weekend to rectify the matter, (and intend to do so!) My Build, LCD Display and Control board is designed by Hong Kong DIYer "Kevinyip". But I didn't use onboard reciver,RS232 and display only Source inputs are connected from backplane which I bought from TAOBAO

Julie got two tickets from work to a garth Brooks concert. Never heard country music before but she is a big fan so I tagged along. So far it's not too loud. But I doubt it will be this volume for much longer. I don't know where anyone else in the arena is though. Everyone is camouflaged quite well...

Here's my build of the Rev2 dam1021 that I finished over the holidays. A so called hotrodded DCB1 (~500mA CCS) provides power to the dam1021 via its shunt regs and also buffers the DAC's raw outputs. It further provides an output muting relay. The DCB1's input impedance is set to about 18k, roughly 30 times the dam's output impedance. Digital inputs are diyinhk Toslink and XMOS USB module, the latter and the dam's isolated i2c inputs are powered by a BIB 3.3V regulator (~200mA CCS). The transistors of all the regs are bolted to the chassis' bottom to spread the heat. I initially ran into problems with disrupted audio when using the XMOS USB interface, which I managed to cure by ensuring that the USB-socket's housing stayed insulated from the grounded chassis when the USB cable was plugged in. Took me a while to figure out, as I first suspected a latency issue of the operating system... The digital interconnects to the dam1021 are made from 10cm CAT5e twisted pairs. Signal interconnects are RG316/U. The dam1021 is stock for now, but I'm planning on trying different mods soon. It took me about three days to build and I really like what I'm hearing. To my ears there's a nice resolution in the bass region and the instruments' timbre is very nicely conveyed. It's very easy to listen to.
