Preliminary results. I don't know anything about carpentry so please don't be too cruel to me.

Today I stumbled across a Sennheiser showroom in San Francisco on Post St. just off Union Sq. They had the HD820 and most of their other cans out to try with their amp/DACs. You can plug in your own phone or stream Tidal. They also have the Orpheus in a private room by appointment. The place was empty at 11:45 on a Friday. I was the only customer... I won't bother you with my impressions...just a heads up to anyone in the Bay Area that would like to audition any Sennheiser stuff.

Well I was expecting to be down to my Panerai and g shock for some time while assessing exactly what I wanted next. But the wife continues to be a bad influence in my life. She saw me checking out pics of this and decided it has a nice look, not entirely pleased that my watch dealer ignored my standing order not to let her buy me anything. Either way, quite pleased with the piece and he always comes through on the pricing. Normally not a fan of two tone yellow gold but the way it's used here is quite understated.

I have not played with it - but 3 bills for a plug and play TT with ortofon - seems reasonable to play some tunes... (reviews seems pretty positive)

ehh...maybe the CJ Premier 15 phono with teflon upgrades is pretty good kit, as is the SME V arm. The Technics, is completely modded: 12lb Mke New platter aluminum, bearing, bearing plate and copper SME armboard. Paul Hynes off board PSU. The speakers are surprisingly good Paradigm Ref 100v4. I do salivate over the Paradigm Signatures though.... There is always the cabling game to be played a bit further.... speakers is the next link, but it may be a while before I can afford a substantial step up.
