Amid all the impressive stuff on this list, I offer up the chopping board. My son phoned on Sunday, and asked if I could make one for a good mate of his, explaining that he was jealous of the one I made for him some years ago. So, although my preferred wood for a chopping board is beech, I could only get oak, Picked up a raw plank on Monday, and made this:
I have contemplated some cutting boards for the holidays myself. Need to come up with something to burn through lumber.
Freshly planed walnut for the entry cabinet.
Yes. Two 150lb magnet switches so I can take it off and keep the fence so fresh and so clean, clean.
Went to the lumber store to get some Baltic Birch for a storage cabinet under the extension wing and the carcass for a MCM bar cabinet/entry cabinet I am building.
$187 per sheet means hardwood for the entry cabinet and HD plywood for the saw cabinet. Got enough ambrosia maple for the entry cabinet doors and top which I think will look great with the walnut sides/wings.
Cutting / cheese boards for the holidays, you say? These are for our French friends with whom we will be spending Christmas, and all are cherry, walnut and maple or curly maple. I just put a coat of Tried & True oil finish on them and when done with that they will get a linseed oil wax top coat.
Here is another picture of my megatron something. Made the fifth board in this small project yesterday, seen at left side.
Main reason for this project is that I had Mundorf capacitors just laying in a “good to have bin” and, I also have too many unused 2SC4686 and 2SA1968.
You can build a similar amplifier with 4 x KSA1156, 4 x 01N100D and 4 x DN2540. Plus, tubes and a few passive components. The easiest electrostatic tube amplifier I’ve built so far.
More feet. The pic probably looks just like the last one, but the joint is a bit more refined and rigid than previous versions as it transfers the weight across a broader area. Making a little cabinet for some audio gear.
I mean, this is who I always wanted to look like. I can fairly well approximate that, but I don’t have the hat. I can’t pull off a trilby.
Also I’m just me and not an icon.
I really thought I would build an outfeed table/work table but the saw really sets too low to comfortable work at long term so this foldy collection of tubes seems like the best bet for me.
It is a much more satisfying sawing experience, and I went years with the little DeWalt jobsite saw. The outfeed table will be nice too. We are making the back wall cabinets the right height to serve as an outfeed table, I am hoping that works out well.
I built some tray type drawers to store Festool systainers under the Kapex as soon as we build the cabinet.
Thanks again....the rest of the day was great, had a nice fish dinner right on the water with fresh hog snapper. My neighbor tables overheard it was my BDay and all sang to me (and they weren't even dunk!). I also continued today where I had an awesome BBQ lunch, and went to my second stereo store in 2 days. It was nice to listen (only in the first) to systems north of $50K and have several aspects of both my speaker-based systems sound better!!
So a happy camper is me.... 🙂
Because Fitz hasn't been around lately. 😁
In other shop news, my niece's husband is not an astronaut but he does build a nice bench with Veritas vices and other fixtures. He's also given me the hand tools and such on the temp shelves below on indefinite loan. With three Lie Nielsen planes and sharpening gear available, I guess I'll try shaping wood and honing tools by hand (Tice bait).
