  1. The stage is cloaked in mystery, or at least a red fog, before the Stromae concert begins. Here with Claire, Sophie and her gf Ella.

  2. I wouldn't recommend buying the record player. The platter is 1/8" plastic and flexes all over the place. The entire turntable is less than 6 lbs.

  5. Uhm, just found this Amazon Commercial 10" enameled cast iron skillet for $16.16. Obviously I couldn't turn that down. Arrives Friday.

  6. This is the 5 ply copper core set that I own and love. It's not my first set of Costco, Kirkland brand 5 ply stainless cookware though. I purchased a set in 1997 and loved and used that set until 2017. It was in fantastic condition even then, and probably still is, the only problem being it was strewn all over South Texas by hurricane Harvey (no relation to Shelly). In 1992 I was commercial fishing in the Bering Sea. I was making good money and decided to treat myself to a set of All Clad cookware. I believe it was an 8 piece set, and if memory serves I paid about $1,200. I did love that cookware! But when I moved from San Francisco back to Alaska in 1994, I sold the set to my roommate, who also loved them. 3 years later, seeing the set at Costco for under $200, I thought they would be no match for the All Clad, but my wallet wasn't as flush at that time. As it turned out I thought they were as good as the All Clad, still do. But this new set is even better, with the copper core. And pretty sexy looking if I do say so. I can't recommend this set of Cookware enough, and there is absolutely a cult following from many chefs across the country. Oh yeah, 25 years later, and with a copper core, still under $200!

  7. Another new artist to me - another strong voice. five seconds flat Lizzy McAlpine 2022 https://album.link/i/1604657567 Example: I started to this listen to this a while ago, but it took me three days to get past the first song (above). It hooked me hard. Lyrics, voice, production (soundstage and close mic), and the use of silence was so well done. I had to switch from my daily listening on Bluetooth over to my AT L3000s to dig past the layers. And I was rewarded. Finally getting through the album and there is more of the same. I have not heard the use of pauses and silence so effectively since discovering Chris Thile and ‎Nickel Creek. There is something so captivating about bringing a song completely to a stop, makes me lean in and take notice as to what is next. So much more satisfyingly than throwing a wall of sound at me with all pots maxed. Needless to say this will go into heavy rotation for a while.

  10. I agree with Doug about quarter sawn wood. But if you can't do that, be sure to coat all sides with the same finish. Not finishing the bottom or gluing a different species of wood on one side will almost certainly make them cup. Whatever you do to the top, do to the bottom. The Titan is IMO the best HVLP on the market. That Bubinga grain just dances. Absolutely gorgeous!

  12. The chair looks great! I don't think there is a thickness that won't warp, but using quartersawn wood of any thickness will help a lot.
