  1. Gotta hand it to Neil, at least he practices what he preaches! http://musicofourheart.me/2012/05/17/neil-youngs-americana-will-be-100-audio-on-bluray-and-180-grade-vinyl/
  2. Ya, I guess so. Like I said, I shouldn't be such a judgmental bastard. It just looked odd to me, that he was selling stuff to his mom. Maybe a used car or something, but little gadgets? Just give it to her, man! She brought you into this world! But I don't know his financial circumstances, and times are tough for a lot of people these days.
  3. I probably shouldn't be such a judgmental bastard, but sometimes I see things on forums that blow me away. Here's one: "Mom was going to buy an iPad herself, but really had no need of a 2 much less a 3 so I sold her our 1 and got a new 3 for us. The screen is just so good it really makes my Santa portfolio shine. Got a sweet red case for it, too, that swivels to hold the iPad either vertically or horizontally." Who the fuck can sell his used shit that he has no further use for to his mom, then go out and spend her money on accessories, and still call himself Santa? He must not be the real one...
  4. Ehh, it's just rain clouds. No need to be scared until it starts swirling around at 155 mph. It's quite calm, actually, with no significant wind. Not a good day to go on a deep sea fishing trip, but otherwise all you need is an umbrella and wading boots.
  5. Current weather map in Grand Cayman: http://www.wundergro...iv=0&mm=0&hur=0 100% chance of rain... the 30 year average in May is 5.5" of rainfall for the entire month. We're at 5" already just for today and the forecast for tomorrow is worse! Had to take a friend to the airport this afternoon. It was a bit of an adventure to say the least. The average elevation is 1m above sea level. Yes, 3 feet. So as you can imagine, there's some serious flooding going on. Dozens of cars stuck in the middle of the roads, but I got through somehow with my trusty Ford Edge. An SUV is must here.
  6. x2 beautiful girl, and a happy moment for dad and brother.
  7. Half? That's just an appetizer.
  8. That's one I've never lent out! In fact, very few people beside myself have ever driven it, and always with me as a passenger. If it goes up in smoke, I want to be there to take a few tokes.
  9. Wow! Didn't realize that was a 4WD. That's even more messed up then in terms of his driving. When they've got power going to them, wherever you point the wheels is where they're going! Now I don't feel so sorry for him.
  10. Classic oversteer while accelerating. Dumb move. One of the first things I learned with the Atom is that you can't be turning the wheel (even a little) at the same time that you're getting on the gas while driving at slow speeds. There's just too far much power at the rear axle. It's different once you're up to a higher speed because you have momentum that will counteract the oversteer and give the rear wheels more grip. You can then lighten up on your grip of the steering wheel a bit and it will self-correct with counter-steer. My basic rule now is no hard acceleration at slow speeds unless the steering wheel is perfectly straight. When taking a turn like that, you have to ease onto the throttle and be light on your steering wheel grip. I really feel for the guy. He's got damage on the front, on both sides, and even to his ego!
  11. RIP Donna. TMI Steve.
  12. I determined once and for all that I'll never lend anyone a car again, ever. Nothing good ever comes out of the experience. Last 4 times I've done so has resulted in one problem or another. This time my turn signal stalk is no longer returning to the off position after I straighten the wheel back out. Doesn't matter if I'm turning left or right.
  13. Lightweights!
  14. Hey!!! That had nothing to do with tree branches!!! I forget what some of you people know sometimes... too funny. I was wearing my UE10s and listening to an unfamiliar Beatles song. The last thing I remember, prior to seeing the turn that I could not possibly make... was that I was wondering to myself, "Is that George singing the lead? What a shame... they really bullied him around a lot... he being the youngest... never got his fair share of the spotlight... it was always John and Paul..."
  15. ^ He must have really been moving to cause that much damage. My guess is he's not an owner/operator! I've found that I really have to be careful not to get too far off of the interstate system in my motorhome which is 13'2" high (built on a Volvo semi truck chassis). Plus, it's 84 feet long counting the trailer which is almost always attached. So I don't have nearly the tight turning radius that these guys do. That, and they couldn't give a shit if they scratch up anything but their cabs, and that goes even for the owner/operators.
  16. Rumors of Joe's death have been greatly exaggerated...
  17. What a long winded, esoteric and "artistic" way of saying, "I hope you like like this album, it's really just a bunch of random stuff..."
  18. You guys are in Wyoming, or there's a restaurant I don't know? Dang! Now I see. Looks good. http://www.jacksonholeburgers.com/
  19. ^ Yes, he was one of the greats. RIP. I had seen this news elsewhere tonight and have been watching clips of his work for some time. The man sure could groove.
  20. That's wonderful stuff, Dinny! Being proud of your mom is pretty cool as well. Speaking of which... my mom has similar interests and talents. She has taught adult education (GED program) at a community college for 30+ years, and has worked in a separate program to assist teenage mothers with their education and general life skills. She's passionate about her work, and has made a real difference for a lot of these girls. But sometimes I think they like her too much! Just the other day, she got her first 3rd generation teenage mom. The 33 year-old grandmother brought her daughter in (along with the baby) and asked, "Do you remember me?" My mom said, "Why yes, Jessica... and I remember your mom as well..." Apparently, Jessica was a 6 year-old when they first met. Mom told me, "Thank God this baby was a boy!"
  21. Happy birthday!
  22. Happy birthday, Shelly!
  23. Happy birthday, Ari.
  24. Wet t-shirt contest winner! I applaud the man.
