New Ultimate Ears *custom custom in-ear thingies
Seems interesting... http://www.head-fi.org/t/612445/ultimate-ears-personal-reference-monitors-the-custom-custom-in-ear-monitor Of course, I never know what my "sonic preferences" are from day to day, so no doubt I'd fuck it up from the get go, and end up with an unlistenable and unsellable pair of $2k earrings. The fancy wood choices sure are dandy though.

Austria! This guy is right out of Dumb and Dumber.- And now what did you do TODAY?
Yes, she does need a visit from Santa, but everybody needs that! Actually, my mom is nothing like your mom, at least when it comes to computers. She's perfectly happy with not knowing anything more than absolutely necessary to do basic things like email. I've been trying to get her to download Skype for months. She'll say, "You can set it up for me next time you come home," to which I'll say, "Just type skype.com and follow the instructions for setting up an account. There's really nothing to it... won't even take 5 minutes!"- slower forum

It sounds like your mom is just an incredibly self-dependent and intelligent woman who has a strong locus of control. She wants to understand everything so that she won't have to rely on you or anyone else, or will at least be confident that she'll know what questions to ask when she does need help. It's probably more of a generational gap than anything. If she were your age and grew up with this sort of technology, she would know this stuff inside and out because she's so curious and determined. The irony is that by trying so hard not to be burdensome to you, she makes it impossible for you to help her!- And now what did you do TODAY?
My condolences, Archos. Try to be one of the strong ones.- slower forum

Ya! Would make a nice snorkel though.- Audeze LCD-2
Looks like they've made some nice cosmetic improvements along the way. Like the new look headband as well. Don't know how new that is, but new relative to the one that's on my LCD-2 (version whatever the original version is called now). Good to hear that The Monkey likes these! They're outstanding headphones, and don't become any less-so simply because other new shiny stuff has come out in the meantime.- Happy birthday Brent!
Sorry I missed your birthday. Hope it was a Brent-worthy event.- slower forum
Would be fun to try at Mayberry sometime. I think JP could pull it off.- slower forum
You owe me 3:20, Ric.- Neil Young claims he was working on an audiophile iPod with Steve Jobs
Ric, I've been searching around trying to find answers to your questions, but it doesn't appear that "100% Music" is intended to be a new brand. There is no mention of it on Neil's site. It would be a good catch phrase though since he's always talking about it in terms of percentages, and it's an easy concept for anyone to grasp. I don't see anything about the 3X graphic used on Musicoforheart's blog either. He's just another music nut who happens to also be a blogger. There's a blurp on his site saying that's he's been to 382 concerts in 42 years, etc. I mean, really. Who counts the number of concerts they've been to? I'd imagine a number of HC'ers have been to just as many, if not more, particularly those who live in metro areas like NYC, Chicago, and SF.- And now what did you do TODAY?
^ That's what I'm talking about, Larry! Obviously, there are no hard and fast rules in life, and everyone's circumstances are different. I was lucky enough to have wonderful parents who were also highly self-sufficient. But I'm thankful that I was in a position to be able to help them -- the one and only time they needed my help -- when my dad was sick with cancer. I realize that every family works differently. Some parents were not so wonderful toward their kids, so those same kids, once adults, might not be so inclined to look after them in their tender years. That, and sometimes mom is the one person in the family who is loaded with money! So that changes the dynamics as well, and sometimes the adult children become money grabbers! Not "gifting" his old iPad 1 to mom wasn't nearly as bad as if he had dragged her to the mall so she could buy him an iPad 3.- Neil Young claims he was working on an audiophile iPod with Steve Jobs
Gotta hand it to Neil, at least he practices what he preaches! http://musicofourheart.me/2012/05/17/neil-youngs-americana-will-be-100-audio-on-bluray-and-180-grade-vinyl/- And now what did you do TODAY?
Ya, I guess so. Like I said, I shouldn't be such a judgmental bastard. It just looked odd to me, that he was selling stuff to his mom. Maybe a used car or something, but little gadgets? Just give it to her, man! She brought you into this world! But I don't know his financial circumstances, and times are tough for a lot of people these days.- And now what did you do TODAY?
I probably shouldn't be such a judgmental bastard, but sometimes I see things on forums that blow me away. Here's one: "Mom was going to buy an iPad herself, but really had no need of a 2 much less a 3 so I sold her our 1 and got a new 3 for us. The screen is just so good it really makes my Santa portfolio shine. Got a sweet red case for it, too, that swivels to hold the iPad either vertically or horizontally." Who the fuck can sell his used shit that he has no further use for to his mom, then go out and spend her money on accessories, and still call himself Santa? He must not be the real one...- And now what did you do TODAY?
Ehh, it's just rain clouds. No need to be scared until it starts swirling around at 155 mph. It's quite calm, actually, with no significant wind. Not a good day to go on a deep sea fishing trip, but otherwise all you need is an umbrella and wading boots.- And now what did you do TODAY?
Current weather map in Grand Cayman: http://www.wundergro...iv=0&mm=0&hur=0 100% chance of rain... the 30 year average in May is 5.5" of rainfall for the entire month. We're at 5" already just for today and the forecast for tomorrow is worse! Had to take a friend to the airport this afternoon. It was a bit of an adventure to say the least. The average elevation is 1m above sea level. Yes, 3 feet. So as you can imagine, there's some serious flooding going on. Dozens of cars stuck in the middle of the roads, but I got through somehow with my trusty Ford Edge. An SUV is must here.- The Official Head-Case Photography Thread.
x2 beautiful girl, and a happy moment for dad and brother.- And now what did you do TODAY?
Half? That's just an appetizer.- And now what did you do TODAY?
That's one I've never lent out! In fact, very few people beside myself have ever driven it, and always with me as a passenger. If it goes up in smoke, I want to be there to take a few tokes.- slower forum

Wow! Didn't realize that was a 4WD. That's even more messed up then in terms of his driving. When they've got power going to them, wherever you point the wheels is where they're going! Now I don't feel so sorry for him. - slower forum
