  1. Was delayed 2 hours getting out of Tampa today. Had a layover in Miami that was, oddly enough, scheduled to be 2 hours and 40 minutes. As I got off the plane in Miami, I quickly looked for the departures board and was relieved to learn that my flight to Cayman was departing out of Terminal D, where I had just arrived. So no problem, now I'm thinking that I have plenty of time. With a big sigh of relief, I wander into the men's room, take a whiz and then head to the sink to wash my hands, fiddle with my growing mop of hair and nit pick my beard for a few seconds. No big hurry, taking my sweet time. Then as I walked back out into the corridor, I suddenly felt my entire right side from my hip down getting drenched with water. WTF?!?!? As I looked down, I realized my mistake. I was carrying my Red Oxx shoulder bag, the biggish thing called the "CPA briefcase" and as I approached the sink that I was intending to use, I set it down across the adjacent sink such that it sort of straddled the sink, and then obviously didn't pay any more attention to it. Apparently, it set the sensor off which then started the faucet and completely filled the open design side compartment with water. By the time I felt it on my hip, half of it had probably sloshed out. But thankfully there was a big trash bin right there and I turned the entire bag upside down and must have shook at least 16-24 ounces of water out of it. Funny as hell. Thankfully all of the compartments were zipped up and only the outer pouch got filled with water. Some papers got a bit soaked in the small zipped center pocket on that side just because of the seepage, but my laptop was in a padded neoprene case inside the center compartment, so it was bone dry. Still managed to make it to the duty free shop for 4 bottles of rum and scotch, and was the last one to board as they were about to take off without me.
  2. Knucks, no problem being the Knucks we all love you for being! Mike, great vacation pics! Your kids are truly fortunate to have two parents who have been so committed over the years to staying in such great shape. They might take it for granted, but it truly is a blessing to them. Not too many 50ish people can do those kinds of things. I know that my parents couldn't at that age, and I know that I certainly couldn't either (or if I did try, I'd probably be added in to the "splat factor").
  3. Ya, but they still have to be done right or they're practically useless. I suspect that in this case there was a lot of cross support built into the frame to absorb and spread out some of the impact. Otherwise the top down pressure would just punch the roll cage straight through the attachment points in the frame. The answer to "How much engineering design work is enough?" when racing at Pike's Peak is that there can never be too much!
  4. Could somebody, anybody besides a Jamaican, please win the men's 200m final? I'm so sick of hearing all of these people go on and on about how "Jamaica is dominating the Olympics... as usual." Geez, USA has 83 medals, China has 77, and Jamaica has 6. But they don't care about the 90+% of all events that they suck at, they just go on and on and on about Bolt and Blake...
  5. So you're the one who stole my fucking Beats! Scum bag! Don't worry, man, karma's a bitch! You're on the naughty list.
  6. Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry David's rudeness and facial expressions save any episode that starts to get dull.
  7. Happy birthday, Tom!
  8. Awesome post.
  9. My favorite as well.
  10. I'd imagine they would if it was the police who booted the car, but at least here in Cayman, boots are sometimes put on at the airport by the security people there, and likewise I've seen them used in private parking lots at commercial buildings. In those instances, I'm pretty sure they don't record anything because they're not giving tickets like the police would do. You just have to find your way to the administrative office on the premises, and once you make your payment, they radio the security guy to come and unlock the boot.
  11. This just gives me goosebumps...
  12. Interesting! I noticed those same pictures posted on Facebook the other day, and several people in the thread were saying that they were Photoshopped because the boot shown in the pics actually covers the lugnuts.
  13. FInally, a perfect club for those difficult lies in the rough. http://images.hammacher.com/PopWindows/Default.aspx?uq=z79148&rnd=1288022005886
  14. Why am I not not surprised that you would know that?!?! You're the first person I'll call if I ever get my wheel clamped!
  15. Just missing one last picture. He would be my hero if he then put the locked wheel in his trunk and drove off. There's got to be a way to cut that thing off without causing damage to the wheel. Might lose the tire, but not the wheel.
  16. Well, at least you're not 23 anymore. Not so sure about Guru.
  17. I take it that I'm your second best friend then. Still not bad.
  18. Priceless! I missed it as well. Thanks for the pic.
  19. Glad you weren't offended, Fitz.
  20. German engineering...
  21. Got the Christmas tree lighting gig this year at Camana Bay, which is an awesome event which draws thousands of people. Seems kind of lame in this video, but it's really a nice event. Of course, the Santa they had last year wasn't the real deal... (Santa's job is to plug in the Christmas tree, which they don't show, but no biggie). They also do a boat show called the "Parade of Light" in the adjoining canal with dozens of boats all lit up in creative Christmas ways. I'll be participating in that event as well, as I did last year, arriving in the last boat.
  22. Mind? I'm honored, my friend. Your's was a brilliant and well supported response, diced with a sweet dose of STFU-ery.
  23. This guy is just so full of crap. http://www.head-fi.org/t/613092/hd650-piggybacked-on-the-hd800-possibly-best-headphone-sound-ever-i-say-yes It's funny, because not only is he annoying like our old friend Gurushanker, he actually looks like him.
