Jacob - I'm sure you know that Katx Eye still has D700 screens, and when I had a D700, I tried one from these guys. Basically, they take Canon screens and make them fit the D700. I was very satisfied with it. Also, you may have seen, but here is discussion on DP Review. I wouldn't give up on the D700 just yet.
