  1. Of course, it's been fine for the past hour since I've started this thread. I don't know why I wasn't seeing it on other sites, though it was consistent through different browsers. EDIT - Spoke too soon. I'm off this week and I'm not going outside till it stops snowing (so I can shovel - again).
  2. Anyone else having issues with the site being slow and/or unresponsive? I started noticing it last week - didn't think anything of it at the time but it has been persistently slow and unresponsive since then. I'd click to go to a forum and it just hangs there or go to a blank screen and hangs there. Sometime, it eventually gets to the forum I clicked on, other times, I need to refresh/close tab/etc. before it works. I haven't noticed inordinate slow down or unresponsiveness on other sites and, FWIW, my internet speed hasn't gone down (at least according to speediest.net).
  3. We do the same in my district and I'm sure we've used 4 thus far as well. In practice it doesn't make a lick of difference though, since we'd just continue to have school until we've had 180 days of school, regardless of how many snow days/cancellations we've had (7 last year).
  4. That looks pretty bad, crappy. Thankfully, I've never the pleasure of receiving boxes like that from either B&H or Adorama. Probably helps that I'm only a day away on UPS/FedEx Ground shipping from them.
  5. Just spent 3 hours shoveling my driveway and by the time I was done, there were already 2" on the section I shoveled first. Oh, and thanks to the lovely town plow/DPW, my "driveway" was magically extended by ~15 feet while having ½ its original width. Fuckers. I think I'm going to be finally buying a snow blower after this winter.
  6. Crumpler 8MDH (Olive w/ red accents) for $89 from B&H (including free Crumpler Industry Disgrace camera strap). http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/683087-REG/Crumpler_MD_08_11A_8_Million_Dollar_Home.html
  7. They cancelled my school for today, though they did it pretty darn late. I feel bad for couple of my colleagues as I know they'd been already on the road to work when the closing notice went out.
  8. ^ What Nate said. My work/school district, in its infinite wisdom, is mulling about doing an early release tomorrow.
  9. New Fuji and m43 stuff looks really nice. I'm curious how much, if any, improvement has been made to AF speed on XT-1 over previous models. Now, if Nikon would make something with Nikon 1 AF on bigger sensor...
  10. Didn't realize D700 has a better build than D800. Even though I really like my D600 and its IQ potential, I miss D700 - that camera felt really great in my hand.
  11. Staying home today since my daughter has a strep - thankfully, she is perfectly fine and not miserable.
  12. Split prism screens can mess with automatic metering, regardless of whether they are made by 3rd party or original camera manufacture. EDIT - And in case you didn't 'see it (since photos in the thread are not showing up for me), the top LCD on that F100 is completely useless.
  13. Well, it's been fine for the past two days so I'm hoping it was just a fluke occurrence.
  14. I was looking at measurement charts for the two lenses. I'd try to find them except DXOmark site keeps either crashing my browser or slowing down my machine to a crawl for some reason. In any case, it wouldn't hurt to try another copy and return it if you don't like it. You'd only be out shipping cost.
  15. At both Photozone and DXOmark, you can compare their respective test results on sharpness (amongst other things) with same body (D3x at Photozone and any recent bodies at DXOmark).
  16. That sucks, Ian. Not sure if it'll be worth it, but try these guys - http://nikoncamerarepair.com They give free estimates and have stellar reputation for their work.
  17. Noticed that my monitor may be starting to give up the ghost, then I found the thread below - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4766577?start=3090&tstart=0 I really hope it's my monitor and not my MBP. Either way, it looks like I need to start allocating my fun fund for this.
  18. I don't pixel peep, but I've found mine to be plenty sharp wide open. I use the lens stopped down if I can help it, though - fringing can be annoying wide open. Also, couple of the tests/reviews online I've read show the copy of 85/1.8g they tested were sharper wide open than the tested copy of Sigma 35/1.4 wide open (and pretty much same from f/2.8 onward).
  19. I thought Canon pulled EOS M out of the US Market and was just going through the remaining inventory? IIRC, Canon USA had no plan of introducing any further EOS M models, including the EOS M2 that was announced couple of months ago in Japan/Asia market.
