  1. BF deal was better than CJ deal by a bit. **BRENT**
  2. You know... there needs to be another Black Friday-esque sale soon... **BRENT**
  3. Did you guys see this? Lars the n00b found it and linked it to me a few minutes ago, and it answers a question I wanted answered without me having to wade through HF JH1x threads. I figure this guy C&P'd from an e-mail, so I'm taking this as "fact" for now. 5. You do realize the weight of the snow has probably exceeded the load capacity of your roof, so your roof is going to be concave now. **BRENT**

  9. Heh. Nice. I hope to be moving out of Chattanooga in about 6 years. I would hope to South Florida so I could just drive over and steal borrow gear from Mike and Alex instead of having it shipped. **BRENT**
  10. He's getting a y2, but IIRC, using 320 -v0 MP3. I told him last night he should use FLAC or ALAC, or just some sort of lossless. But I agree, and that's why I said to give the RS-1s a chance once the DAC comes in and use them with the amp for a month or two. **BRENT**
  11. I believe I said something to the effect of Oh, wait, I remember what else. You are wanting to know about all these cans, but you've been listening out of your laptop's headphone out, or out of a 20$ MP3 player. I told you to wait until you get your dac and spend a couple weeks with the REAL rig with the headphones you have, and also throw down for a pair of HD580s, 600s, or 650s to compare to your RS-1s. See if you like the RS-1s with your amp/dac as opposed to just the headphone out. Then sell whichever you like the least, since you were going to dump the RS-1s anyways. Sell your MS-1s right now, as you know you don't like them. If you want portable cans, get some Senn PX100-II or just PX100. You could get Koss Porta Pros, but as many think they kinda fall in line with the Grados that you don't seem to like, then just skip them. Once you sell the RS-1s (which you seem inclined to do anyways), buy the 600s or 650s, whichever you didn't buy previously, and listen to those two cans for about a month. See which you like best. Sell the other. Then when you sell those, buy the K701s and put them up for a month or two against the 650s (which is what I figure you'll keep out of those 3). Then, in about 6-7 months when you've gone through 4 sets of cans and you kinda know what you like and what you don't like, sell all your gear (amp, dac, cans) and get JH13s or JH16s and listen out of your laptop or portable. That's pretty much what I told you last night, I just don't think you were listening. **BRENT**
  12. What I told you in the chat, except in forum formatting. **BRENT**
  13. I've downloaded a few things from Audible and have been listening to books lately. Snow Crash I just finished, and enjoyed, though kinda see Dan's point there at the end. Neverwhere is next on my list after I finish "Under The Dome" by Stephen King, as it was 34 hours long and I need to kill time. Ringworld was free on Audible recently through http://www.audible.com/twitfree It was pretty good. Ender's Game is something I've read multiple times, and one of my favorite books, period. Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land is classic, and I'm sure grawk would approve. There's a good list started up above. I know I have a few more to add, just can't remember them... maybe it's time to start re-reading things, no? I guess I'm just saying "x2" to about a third of the above. **BRENT**
  14. /me applauds. I didn't see where you bought that M^3 yet, though. Was that on the last page? **BRENT**

  19. Take a camera with you and shoot some pics to give us something to work with visually. Take a picture of the back of the house and also the back of the yard as we as we can probably throw out a few more ideas for the future developments for storage buildings, home theatre tie ins, etc. **BRENT**

  21. What about building a large window/door area in the attic to the outside of the house that would open out, then use a scissor lift to transfer things to and from ground level (perhaps building a small patio/deck off the upper level, perhaps large enough to throw a couple chairs out to chill on.) That would free up space where you need it, plus allow you have another vehicle to put rims on. If you wanted, with this idea you could even just possibly rent the scissor lift when needed, which would free up a bit of capital. I would say put in the spiral staircase too, though, so you could at least do some things storage wise until it's converted to a proper room. Thinking about it a little more, however, leads me to believe that the kid would have a pretty pimp way to sneak in the Flavor of the Month (night?) once those teenage years hit if you had a window that fully opened up and had a scissor lift. Oh, when you wind up going for some other, slowly moving thing... why not supercharge the motor on the lift? I'm sure someone around can do it. **BRENT**
  22. Were you sober? If so, my fiend, I believe we may have stumbled upon the problem. Have a pint with the blade... you know, to take the edge off. **BRENT**
  23. Did anyone post this response about JH13 v JH16 from Jerry off of Facebook? "The JH16 is not necessarily a better sounding earpiece than the 13. The JH13 is a killer sounding earpiece and audio-wise it is hard to improve upon. Regarding the sound signature, the 13 and 16 are very similar. The JH16 offers more bottom end capacity and therefore will take more low-end input. You will notice the difference more in a live setting than a mastered recording. In a live situation the mix is not as controlled. The dynamic range and transient peaks are much more dramatic live. For example, in a live setting, an artist may want to hear a full mix plus a kick drum with a large 50hz boost (more than you would ever hear on a recording) and at a much louder volume than most people would listen. The earpiece needs to have more headroom and capacity so as not to distort at that volume level. This is when the 16 shines. Hope this clears things up a little. Jerry" I think some people on facebook were thinking that Jerry was saying that there IS a 50Hz boost in the 16s, where actually they are just able to handle the boost if the sound guy puts it in the mix for the performers on stage. Headroom... it's a good thing, no? I haven't read the 16 specific thread, but has anyone said anything about them being as easily amped (straight out of phone/DAP) as the 13s? **BRENT**
