Three sides of all four drawers are cut, assembled and bottoms slid into place. The drawers will be left natural, with a clear lacquer finish. Except the drawer fronts, which will be stained to match the box. The box sits atop the drawers for weight, to ensure that they dry flat. Tomorrow I'll cut the fronts to fit and stain them. Not sure what finish I'm going to use on the box, but I think it'll probably be boiled linseed oil, with a top coat of Tried-N-True.

Got the drawer dividers cut, glued and clamped up. I cut the drawer material to height, but a tad bit long and wide. I want to wait until the box cures, then I can un-clamp and measure to fit nice and snug. I have some drawer glide tape coming. This will attach to the bottom of the drawer sides and allow the drawers to slide with minimal friction. The box is too small for mechanical drawer glides.

Got the second coat on today. Just right.

The only thing that I don't care for is the three different audio racks. One long rack would look better IMO, but that's a minor quibble.

I wanted to stain the box, inside and out, before the drawer dividers made that almost impossible. I made sure to leave the datos stain free, so that I can get a good glue up on the dividers. Stained the 1/4" ply for the dividers as well. When I cut the dividers to fit, that will give me good unfinished edges for glue. I decided on Espresso. I think I may give it another coat once it dries. That'll require another day before I can get the dividers in, but I think a bit darker is what I'm looking for.

Just go all out and get the ACR.

I bought kd lang and the reclines 'Angel with a Lariat' in 1987, when it came out. I then went back and bought the first album, and have bought every album since. To say I'm a fan would be a giant understatement. Hymns of the 49th parallel is one of my favorites to listen to. I discovered Chris Isaak two years earlier, and I buy every album he releases as well. Still two of my best discoveries.
