So seeing as I have to have a monitor in any case, would an iMac be a good solution as well? Assuming it's capable of running Mountain Lion well.

If I like this Mini/computer based transport thingy, I'll most likely upgrade to a newer unit. I figured that for $89.00, I could just pass the G4 onto whoever else might wanna try this route.

Sure it can. I used some fender washers on the underside. Yep, good catch! Actually had the right channels on the reverse inputs. The power amps are correct however. That's the way they connect in mono.

I happen to like them quite a lot. I think they were in the upper $200.00's when I got mine. Maybe $270ish. At sub $100 they are a steal.

And the only time Justin's weight fluctuates, is when he has a stripper on his lap.

All done. You can see that the back is pretty tidy w/short interconnects. They are fairly different in presentation. The Buffalo I'd call more technically accurate, while the Parasound is more colored. It's a fun coloration though, and for sub $500.00, a pretty darned nice DAC IMO. I tend to like the Parasound more with the Beta22, and the Buffalo more with the F5. The Zdac makes the Beta a bit more musical, but the F5 already is, so the more neutral Buffalo serves it well. The Parasound stack does a damned nice job driving the K1000 in it's own right, but both the Beta22 and the Pass F5 are a bit more discerning. A very cool office rig however, IMO.

Don't go to such drastic means, but this does make much more sense to me now. That'll give me the freedom to place the Mini monitor anywhere, and use the iPad for control. Now, one more question...can I move my PC based iTunes files straight over to the Mac?

So are you saying that with the purchase of an Apple TV, I can use Airplay to send content from my Mini to my iPad, and control my content from the iPad? Also, my Zdac is 192 kHz. Is there any reason to buy above Amarra HiFi? Thanks for all the help BTW!

So I just bought a used G4 Mac Mini for $89.00. Thought I'd try it out, now that I have a USB DAC. I guess at this point my plan is just Mini to Zdac via USB, and iTunes as player. Not sure what operating system is on the Mini (should arrive before the first of Dec.) I've browsed for small LED monitors, but with no luck. Is there an iPad sized monitor out there? Curious about how everyone else is running their Mini based setups, all advice welcomed.
