  1. Have you tried a very warm tube like the RCA 6sn7's driving a pair of 5687s?
  2. Actually they are still produced, but the prices of the current production ones makes them not worth even considering.
  3. I agree that he needs to watch out and plan for dissipating the heat from the power supply correctly. But I don't think the 6528's are that rare at all or all that expensive. They are pretty easily found for about $60/each I know of at least 3 tube dealers that sell them at that price and they all have plenty in stock.
  4. The power supply (specifically the power diodes) got pretty toasty but the amp itself didn't run hot at all really. Essentially Mikhail had to use the power supply case as a heatsink for the diodes since they had so much current running through them.
  5. They aren't any different I've compared the regular sovteks to the "DR" variant and they sound identical to me.
  6. yep there is both [sub*][/sub*] m3 and [sup*][/sup*] tags m3

I didn't have them at the same time to do any direct comparisions but I will say that the Modwright has a much lower noise floor. This is probably due to the fact that the Dragon just really had too much gain to be very useful as a pre-amp. Sure it was nice but when you can only use 3 or 4 steps on the SA it's a real pain to get the volume level you want.
  8. I do it so that when someone reads my opinion on a piece of gear they'll have a baseline of where I'm coming from.

They have to rebuild the search index, which believe me will take quite some time.

Watching BSG Razor on sci-fi right now. Almost forgot it was on.
  11. Way too expensive.
  12. I'm thinking about replacing my current TV and getting something bigger that will also be able to hold all my A/V components. Allowing me to just have one piece of furniture for everything instead of a tv stand and a seperate audio rack. Right now I've been looking at the Syngery 30 w/ center channel shelf. Any other suggestions? I'd like to keep it under $1k and no wider than 65" if possible.
  13. Reks you better hope Kansas or Mizzou wins out, otherwise Ohio State will be in the title game again. I know you don't want that
  14. It was a great game as was last nights LSU - Arkansas game. It's been a really wild season so far, will be interesting to see how Kansas-Mizzou goes tonight.
  15. Happy Birthday Jason!
  16. External HD or a NAS box will be your best bet for storage. I think you should just keep your collection fully lossless and then just convert to lossy whenever you need to add/change whats on your ipod and then delete the lossy files again. I'm one of those thats not a big fan of the DAC-1 but you won't find anything thats clearly superior for the same price.
  17. Kevin is way past batshit crazy
  18. done, it actually doesn't look half bad. you'll have to clear your browser cache for it to show up though.

I've been very happy with my Sony KDS-55A2000.

So I bought this a few days ago, I've been a big fan of whole Unreal series since the original UT came out. I'm happy to say that UT3 continues to have the same fast paced action and absolutely killer graphics as the previous iterations of it have. The Warfare game mode is pretty badass as well. Unfortunately the menu design absolutely blows. It looks like it was put together by a 5th grader and was clearly done so that it would play well with consoles. They are apparently going to fix this in a future patch so I'll be keeping an eye out of that. As I mentioned the graphics are really fantastic, the environment and character textures are well done and very detailed. But I think what I like best about the graphics is the details on the weapons it's truly remarkable.
  21. Hmm I like it, I'll use it for now, thanks

    Happy Thanksgiving!
  23. It should play within the gallery if it was a supported format. So I guess its not.
  24. The HA-2? It's designed for high impedance headphones like 650s which it sounds great with but I'm really not sure it'd be the best choice for the L3000.
  25. I don't care much about a head-case link on the head-fi entry getting removed it's to be expected almost. There are also links on the headphone and headphone amp entries. If those get removed I'll start complaining.
