no buying for me today. well, bought some toys for the little monkey.
  3. Ric, I very much look forward to your impressions of that combo. And Wayne, that's an excellent survey of the closed landscape. Thank you. Nate, advance thanks for the adapter. Yay Head Case!
  4. Thanks, Tyll. I'm curious about what you liked better about the D5000 over the 7000. So far, I'm doing the following: - Borrowed a K340 from Jim. But now I can't find my XLR-1/4" adapter. - Ordered THUNDERPANTS! - Trying hard for a minty CD3000 - Borrowing the T1 from Al I think I'm going to forego the Shures for now. And Tyll, you're right, sealed headphones are just tough. Hopefully, I can add some somewhat helpful opinions after listening to a few of the options out there.

Personally, I like all being in the same hotel. I like knowing where you folks are at all times.
  8. To anyone on the fence about these things, I really have to say go for it. Especially if/when JHA runs one of their discounts. I know I've been a bit reserved in my praise for these things, but they are game-changing transcendent phones that belong up there with the best. All that and they still sound fun. They ain't cheap, but I'm pretty confident that among this group, they're worth it.

Sorry to bump this, but I'm very frustrated that HD Tracks has been so slow to develop it's hi rez rock selection
  10. The CD3000 out of the Woo amps is pretty great.
  11. There's a pair of O2 mk2 for sale over at HF. I find it tempting. There is something wrong with me.
  12. I think the JH13 to O2 comparison is fair. Now can someone tell me if AC2 is the only way to get O2 mk2 pads these days? I haven't heard back from Craig; Yama's is useless; and the ebay prices are as bad as AC2.
  13. They're cheap and plentiful!
  14. That's just because you guys don't have touch screens.
  15. I thought Rogue did a nice comparison in this thread. As for the PWD, I was a touch screen skeptic and now like it, but I am not psyched for when it fails. The other thing about the PWD is that there are a lot of interesting things in the pipeline for it. That said, I am wondering if they may be getting a bit hung up on bells and whistles. I have not yet read anything bad about the Ayre.
  16. fucked up the coffee maker, spilled salad all over my keyboard, stupid things at work got in the way of other stupid things, and now I'm going to be working on those other stupid things until the wee hours. I want a wee dram, but maybe I should have some coffee.
  17. oh lordy, someone buydat.
  18. I'm using the PWD right now with a KGSS and I love the combo. If you shop around you may be able to get a new one close to the used prices. I got mine at liquidhifi.com and was very pleased with the transaction. That said, a used Ayre would be hard to resist...
  19. "'Reks used his big spoon to introduce his friends to his basement." Doesn't have the same ring.
  20. I guess computer DAC cannot be ordered on the computer.
  21. Thanks guys, Goodreader sounds perfect for my needs.
  22. Your point about getting around FDA by declaring products homeopathic while still containing actives that actually do something is well taken. I will neither confirm nor deny such activities at any former employer. I also forgot about the shaking part.
  23. We did a fair amount of work investigating claims support for potential homeopathic products at my former job. While certainly lacking the types of gold standard studies we are accustomed to in OTC/pharma land, there were at least a few somewhat compelling studies. But as I recall, most suffered from typical flaws with respect to powering, outliers, etc. Still, it was enough for me not to think of it as hokum. But I remain a skeptic.
