So after looking through, I have a couple of cards that would seem to be ok at first blush. I have a Cal Ripken rookie and a Rickey Henderson rookie in what appear to be pretty good condition. But I guess these need to be graded in order to really be able to ascertain their value?

Well, fuck. There goes the BHSE fund.

I have a bunch of baseball cards that could have some value. Does anyone here have experience selling cards? Is there a good site that gives ballpark values to cards? Basically, help me sell these things so I can buy MOAR GEAR! Thanks.

I gave my dad his gift last night. His starter rig is a DT 770 (recabled and reterminated to a nice 1/4" plug) and the EC/SS. I listened to this rig the other day and found it very enjoyable. Well, my dad was floored. He absolutely loves the rig. I showed him how to set everything up, gave him my iPod to play with and left him listening to the Rolling Stones with a wide grin on his face. I didn't see him for another 90 minutes. He has been stressed out recently for a variety of reasons, so it was great to see him relax with some tunes. And he was genuinely touched to learn that head-casers gave advice about the rig and hoped he liked it. So it looks like we have ourselves another headphone convert. And a big thanks to you all for your assistance. This is a good hobby. Head-Case ftw.

That inspired me. I am going to drink a beer now, and maybe do some cooking later.

Same here, NYC and NYS are killers. And I spent part of '08 working in NJ, so I owed them a bit, too. Fuckers. And the mortgage deduction doesn't really help as much as I hoped when I was rationalizing the decision to buy an apartment. As for today, spent the last several hours cleaning out my parents' basement. There's a certain pathology to the relationship between Irish-Americans and their basements. Happy Easter.

I'm not much of a photographer, but the cameras in this article in the NY Times that can shoot 30-60 frames per second seem interesting. Definitely could be useful for kids/sports/nature stuff.
