  1. It would seem paradoxical, but my house is at 2900 foot elevation, the valley floor is at 2300 elev, so we do get a little bit of snow.
  2. The kids have gone bananas We usually get one good dusting every year
  3. One more day of vacation today, at least a half day, as we got 4" of snow here in the Mojave Desert north of Los Angeles, Palmdale CA
  4. Idle hands are the devil's workshop Hope you liked it. Happy Birthday!
  5. Bud Light presents Real Men of Genius. Chorus: "Real Men of Genius!" Today we salute you, Mr. Japanese Knife Cutter Upper. Chorus: "Mr. Japanese Knife Cutter Upper!" Most people cut up their food using the garden variety department store Henkels knives.... but not you. You wield the finest hand forged Japanese Steel while cutting up your culinary delights, O Ninja of the Kitchen! Chorus: "Hai-ya..... Chop... Chop.... Chop... Chop!" But the real trick is how you get your meat, by bashing unsuspecting victims in your basement with a shovel Chorus: "Oooohhhh that hurt" And if your not slicing up your cutlets, your patrolling the Head Case Forum looking for idiot posters to harass Chorus: "Aaaassshats to BAN, to BAN!" So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, Samurai of the Salad, you make our Forum safer... one asshat at a time! Chorus: "Mr. Japanese Knife Cutter Upper!" 6. Yes I would say that the voices fall into the description you made, especially Satchmo's voice - a bit grating at times. Ella's voice sounds very good though, not fatiguing.
  7. Hmm... not sure. I don't have the vinyl, but not sure which CD I have. There is treble, can hear the cymbals fairly well compared to what I remember. Don't think it is overly bright, but I would not call it warm either, somewhere in the middle, actually quite good sounding, the voices are a bit brighter, might be the mics used. Instruments sound fine.
  8. Ordered two new kitchen cabinet drawers at Home Despot. Listening to the speaker rig, both vinyl and digital selections, nice to be off from work long enough to spend some time enjoying...
  9. delete account... I have an Aussie Airforce Major working for me, nicest guy. The OP just goes to show that every country has assholes...
  10. So I wonder if this unit upconverts Redbook and other formats to 192/96/32bit?? or is there any upconversion going on?
  11. a pair of spare rectifiers Sylvania 5U4GBs for my Modwright Pre amp dual mono power supply
  12. If someone builds a stable board with around 5-6 gain, that would probably motivate me to build these boards up and substitute them into my Dynamite.
  13. All the questions raised above never allowed me to finalize the BOM. Then I got too busy to work on it further. Hope someone can finalize the configuration/parts values.
  14. I don't think you will be disappointed with your 1210. That website is interesting...
  15. none worth mentioning. But I have heard an SME 10 setup with the Shelter Harmony and and SME IV.Vi arm in a nice system, and fwiw my setup sounds just as good, and more to my liking than that setup. I can say I have heard good improvements with each mod. The folks over at The Art of Sound Forum have a lot of interest on 1200 mods and other tables
  16. replace the arm on the 1200 and the power supply and you can get very good sound. Go the next step and put in a Mike New bearing and platter and you have a top tier table for not a lot of money
  17. Fleetwood Mac - Tusk Madonna - Hard Candy
