Hey Speaker Kids: Don't I remember reading that the *L2 series of Quad speakers got worse reviews then their previous L series? Reason I ask is there are these demos for sale on Audiogon: http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?spkrmoni&1206234899 I could put this on my desk next to my monitor, and power them off the other speaker outs on my 840A. But if my memory serves me, I'd be better off waiting for a regular 11L (or 12L if I want to go active).

The man turns 55 today!

Hoping to find a digital stylus force gauge accurate to 0.01. Really don't want to pay more then $100. Needs to last forever and ever. Any suggestions?

Oh I love me some Hoffman, but the Beatles and Floyd MFSLs are just about audio nirvana for me.

I should add that actually my favorite mastering are typically MFSLs. The above meant I prefer WG discs above most other early pressing european/japanese discs.

Generally my favorite discs are from W. Germany circa 1980s.

Sounds good Peter, thanks for sharing! My concern isn't so much the nearness (I would expect monitors to work well nearfield) as their placement on the desk. Quad 12Ls are something I've considered, since I like the sound signature of my 22Ls so much, so I'm glad to hear of your positive experience with them in the exact same situation I'd like to hear them.

Hey OJ, how do you have your A7s setup? I've been hoping to find some monitors I could just set on either side of my computer monitor for easy near field listening. I don't even know if it is sonically possible to achieve good sound with this type of positioning.

So I was proudly telling my hardcore Ryan Adams fan friend about these cool soundboards I found on the internet. He then pointed me here: http://www.ryanadamsarchive.com/torrents.php apparently Ryan Adams lets random fan tapers put mics on the stage and record through his soundboard because he is a BADASS. there are more soundboards on there then I know what to do with, but I'm grabbing as many as I can.

Finally installed the "new" foobar, and basically it answered all my problems. It gave me a simple, paneled interface with no fancy graphics that I setup to use with ASIO in about 2 minutes. Wonderfully done! Actually glad to be rid of Winamp, which while easy to use, always takes to long to startup and has a bunch of bloatfeatures I'll never use.
