KGSSHV, Balanced Dynahi Rev A and DynaFET board run
To clarify - the KGSSHV consists of 2 each amp boards, left and right channels and 1 each PSU board. The PSU board is only available with onboard heatsinks, there are two different style amp boards available. One style has onboard heatsinks (2 each pcbs required) - or - the second style which utilizes off-board heatsinks. (2 each pcbs required) My prototype KGSSHV (pictured below - click to enlarge) has all three boards that employ onboard heatsinks. The other style amp pcb is physically smaller, allowing for a more compact build, especially if one wants to do a sleek two case version ala the BHSE. (sans tubes of course)

Mailman just dropped by with a new HP Touchpad 32gb. Sweet alternative to the iPad at 1/3 the original retail price. Too bad the apps will be limited to what's out there now. Oh well, it's just another "disposable" commodity that serves my needs just fine.

KGSSHV, Balanced Dynahi Rev A and DynaFET board run
Just thought I'd throw this out there for those who have yet to source that rare sand for their T2's. This could be worthwhile, as I dropped a little over $200 with B&D recently for discontinued transistors. B&D is having a "summer sale" until August 31. 10% off and free shipping in the CONUS. Minimum order is $100 to qualify, use souce code: "cooldown" at checkout. www.bdent.com

Got me a big-azzed bottle of Makers and I'm gonna put a dent in it. Chilled shots, straight up.- slower forum
Yeah, it's hard to beat them Beats! cough, cough. <<turns around and hurls chunks...>>- i'm on a roll... the kgsshv
Indubitably.- What are you listening to Part the Third
Interesting! Currently listening to their hit "Situation". Good stuff.- What are you listening to Part the Third

Nope. The new design is pro bias only. The older one that I built had one pro and one regular output like the older Stax energizers do.- i'm on a roll... the kgsshv
@ Horio, does your trafo spec take into consideration the required 580V output bias branch of the psu?- KGSSHV, Balanced Dynahi Rev A and DynaFET board run
QUOTE: "Is the 1200V rating a must?" KG would have to chime in on that one. The search function isnt working or I would reference what he said previously in the other thread. Look on the bright side, if returning them is a hassle, they ARE useable, they WILL fit. Just need a few hours of careful, patient rework. That is, if you are good with that kind of thing. Why are you selling your SR-507's?- Oscilloscopes
A while back while I was repeatedly blowing up my KGSSHV power supply under test, I looked into these electrophoresis psu's rated at 500 volts and was surprised to see how cheap they were. Problem was that I couldnt find the output current specs for the used units on sale, so I didnt pull the trigger. I was also concerned about what KG mentioned above about the protection circuits causing problems with dual rail linking to a common ground.- KGSSHV, Balanced Dynahi Rev A and DynaFET board run
Mouser doesnt carry the TO-220 parts with the same electrical specifications. In my KGSSHV I used the TO-247 ones that Lil Knight specified, but I dont recommend it to anyone else because I had to do a lot of rework to the terminals to make them fit the pcb footprint. (bending and trimming the leg width with a dremel tool.) And yes, they are too big. There was an earlier discussion about this in the KGSSHV thread. I believe that Luvdunhill and KG concurred that a similar part with a lower continuous current (<15A) could be used (as low as 8A ?? - I would shoot for at least 10 to 12 A), but they must be a fast recovery type with the 1200 volt reverse voltage withstanding spec. I'm sure that some of the other major suppliers will have these in stock.- The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
Nice!- Holy Crap! The New Stax Omega Looks fierce! (Stax SR-009)
Bravo! I've been waiting to see this kind of useful data, didnt know it existed yet.- Holy Crap! The New Stax Omega Looks fierce! (Stax SR-009)
I love bright. But the price aint right. - What are you drinking now, pt 2.
