Once I saw this post I could see what was coming down the tracks, it was just a matter of time. -
Sketches of Spain and Kind of Blue are my all time favorites.

What I meant by my comment was that when I heard some of the same jazz tracks I heard on the Abbys or Bens played through other speakers the music on other systems seemed more revealing like live music. The Cain and Cains didn't reveal the same depth and detail I had heard from other speakers. Strings on the C&Cs didn't have the oomph or decay, the brush work on one jazz piece seemed a bit off or veiled the piano seemed a bit recessed. These observations are why I stated that to me what I heard from the Cain and Cains seemed that "too much music was being left on the disk".

When you say "fail" what do you mean? I agree with you for the most part there is a distinct type of sound from single drivers you either love em or hate em. I have heard a few of the Cain and Cains and really didn't care for them, it seemed like too much of the music was being left on the disk.

I wish I could convince my sister-in-law to join us, then I could sneak a pound of fresh bacon in her day pack before we go out.

Bear pepper spray, extra extra strength and new running shoes. I am going on my son's school overnighter field trip to Lake Arrrowhead next week and lately I have been stumbling on all these news items of people being mauled by bears and mountain lions. I have a new tube amp and I am about to buy a new cdp. It is difficult to listen to good music if your ears have been torn off by a black bear or your head is in a cast.

If you do get mono, you need to share your mono.

Reks, Scotch is your friend. Nine out of ten doctors surveyed prescribe jazz and scotch for muscle soreness, the tenth one prescribed voodoo but you don't live in Louisiana so Isley it is.

Yet another universal player thread

Matt Ankers mods were excellent in the Denon 3910 I heard. Oh, perhaps try the Krell/Marantz thread for the transport issue I am not sure though. Sorry, I am currently suffering brain flatulence. -
Yet another universal player thread

I think there is a thread somewhere here that talks about repairing the Sony transport and someone even has a couple of replacement parts he is hoarding. Sorry I can't provide anymore details because I was site surfing at the time searching for something else. If you are still considering the RAM mods, I would recommend you think again. I fell into the Lite Dac Ah hype last year and sent one to RAM for modding. I am not happy with the results, it may be better than what it was but still not to my liking. In my opinion the $400 modding cost may have made the Dac Ah better but it is still not good enough. My limited experience here on HC leads me to believe you posess good critical listening skills and the Oppo mods may disappoint you. In my opinion a lot of the mods for CDPs and Dacs in the RAM price range make them better but not necessarily good. I am skeptical of what RAM can do based upon my DAC Ah experience. -
Any way to bulk up in 6 weeks? (lifting weights)

Wow! Gives new meaning to the term self absorbed. -
I assume you are using a filter mask correct? Also I would recommend when you finish with the wood, change your clothes immediately and take a shower. If you are in fact allergic to some particular wood species you want to get as far away from it as possible once you are done cutting and sanding.

I can't believe the media attacking Bill Clinton's wife. What next, Bono sponsoring a Nascar team? Armageddon is here...............

Hi all, Well silly me purchased a Dac Ah a year ago after reading some of the reviews over on HeadFi. http://www.pacificvalve.us/LTDACAH2.html I sent the DAC over to Reference Audio Mods for their full gundie mods and the experience has been less than satisfactory to say the least. The modded Dac Ah sat in my home office system and never got any serious play until recently and basically IT SUCKS! Any piano like Bill Evans or Monk sound very shrill, there is a noticeable suck out in the upper mids and bass is muddied. As I complained to another Head Caser it is as if the soundboard in the piano was replaced with ceramic tiles. Is there anyone out there who is willing to be hired to trouble shoot this Dac and correct this problem? That person whould have to make the corrections because I am completely incompetant with a soldering iron. Thanks for the consideration. Greg
