Not that I don't like what they are doing, I do. What I don't see is how they become a stable, profit-generating business over the long-term. $400 just seems like a ludicrous amount to pay for a portable player when most of their target demographic are going to already own high end smart-phones. I wish them the best, but take Neil Young's name off the project and what do you have?

Wow. Just heard about this one. Such a funny guy, but he had his issues. Still. He lives in my hometown and went to the same high school I did. I think he even still has a school record in track and field. What a bummer.

Installed the 10.10 beta this morning on my rMBP at work. Damn 10.10 looks absolutely stunning on the retina screen. Bravo, Apple! Brilliant work! I would have installed 10.10 for the black menu bars alone.

Yes, the mini uses the same Intel chips as the MacBook Pro line. Also, FWIW, the iMac line uses desktop-class Intel chips but laptop-class nVidia GPUs.

They are bigger and more expensive, but I can't say enough about the 30" Korean Monitor I bought from one of the ebay sellers. 2560x1600 is very nice for having two documents open at the same time. Also the size difference between the 30" and the 27"ers is quite noticeable.

Finished the two seasons. I enjoyed it, but for some reason I felt guilty for watching it. I guess I have the same feelings for this show that I have for Piper. She is hot, you want to like her, but your not sure if there is really all that much there.

Just finished Robert Penn Warren's All the King's Men. Really enjoyed it. It's a bit all over the place, but any scene with Willy Stark in it is solid gold. It is a classic for a reason, despite its flaws. I had seen both the 1950's and 2000's movie adaptations prior to reading this and that didn't dampen my enjoyment of the book in the slightest. Penn Warren is a very good writer.

So it looks like this Apple acquiring Beats is really a thing and not just somebody's late April Fools joke. Gotta say, Tim Cook-lead Apple has gone more or less how I thought it would go. IMO their execution on the existing hardware lines (iPads, iPhones, Laptops, Mac Pro) has been spectacular. Samsung and HTC have made big strides, but as of the date of the launches the Apple hardware is industry leading. Tim seems like a CEO who would be masterful at handling iterative hardware with his operations backgrounds and so far he has been. It's the new product lines I'm worried about. iTunes Radio seems to have been a failure. I liked IOS7, but I wonder how much of that was just Ive being Ive rather than being directed by others. Tim just does not seem like an idea man to me. But Beats? Come on, Apple! Isn't the streaming music marketplace already saturated enough? This does not seem like a good idea to me.

There were some brutal kills in that episode, even by GoT standards. The one at the end... wow.
