  1. Phew. Did not want to lose that one. First game I've ever seen won by bunt-off.
  2. Day game? No problem! Fox Sports Go app working like a charm.
  3. I'm trying to get some tickets for Wednesday or Thursday night, but damn are people ever asking a lot. For the price of 4 good seats I could practically go out and get a 70" TV.
  4. Ouch. Great game. Sucks to lose.
  5. One down for the Giants, three to go. Can we change Pablo Sandoval's name to Senor Octobre? That was a balk, but thankfully the game wasn't close enough that it really mattered all that much. I kind of enjoyed the alternative broadcast, although I felt myself switch over the the regular broadcast early in the game. The alternative broadcast struggled early with focusing on the game action during high leverage situations, but they got quite a bit better as the game went on.
  6. I liked the Rolling Thunder Revue, but this one is better:
  7. I'm actually going to miss the Smoltz-Vasgersian announcing team. What a breath of fresh air they are. Smoltz is humble and easily relateable. Vasgersian calls a clean game and gets excited at the right times. They are so much nicer to listen to than the general awfulness of Joe Buck and Tim McDoofus. I thought Smoltz as the color-man was a nice change of pace from the gasbag that is our local color-man, Mike Krukow. Kruk is great for getting people in to the game, but his shtick wears thin after 15 years of watching Giants games.
  8. The Giants may need a new 3rd base coach. Second time this series Posey gets cut down at home.
  9. This Bryce Harper kid is good to quite good.
  10. Listening to this for the first time on Spotify. I was late to the Spotify party, but now I'm hooked. Whoa... so different. I like it?
  11. For DVD/Blu-Ray ripping I use MakeMKV. Works like a champ. As for MS Office alternatives that very much depends on your workflows.
  12. Dammit, Tyll. Your X2 review has me intrigued. As a longtime HD600 lover I figured I have to give them a try. I ordered a pair for the office.
  13. Make one amp to rule them all and then make another amp to rule the first amp. This is head-case, dammit. If it isn't overkill what is the point?
  14. I have the same worry as well. As a precaution, I've started putting them back in their box when they are not being used.
  15. I'm really happy the AL representative is going to be someone new. Good luck to both teams. Partial to B'more as I went to college in Annapolis and caught a lot of games at Camden, but I can't really root against the Royals given what that fan base has had to go through.
  16. I finished The Roosevelts this morning. Ken Burns will always be better know for Jazz, The Civil War and Baseball, but man... this one might have just been his best yet. Watch it. It is the best thing you will see on TV all year.
  17. I'm fairly certain this is what happened. They've been sitting on a high shelf unused for a few weeks. Is there anything I can do about dust/dirt other than send them in for servicing? The 9s seem quite a bit more difficult to take apart than the 7s. UPDATE: Testing the dust theory, I unplugged them and sprayed some compressed air at the offending driver. Problem solved, I think. The squeal is gone.
  18. I don't blame the Nats manager for pulling Zimmerman for his closer. That is a totally defensible move that just happened to backfire. I do, however blame him and Cabrera for getting themselves tossed arguing balls and strikes. What a stupid and selfish thing to do. They let their emotions get the better of them and they absolutely hurt their teams chances of winning. Especially Cabrera. He took a power bat out of the lineup. Bochy time and again had the Giants pitch around other Nats to go after Cabrera's light hitting replacement. What an absolute mistake. Never mind the fact that the pitch tracker showed they were strikes anyways. Even if the pitches were way outside, you have to keep your head and keep yourselves in the game there.
  19. That was incredible! What an intense game! Easily the most fun I've had watching the giants since game 1 of the 2012 World Series when Pablo single handedly killed Verlander and the Tigers. Hats off to the Nationals. They battled till the end.
  20. Who ever loses this one is just going to be crushed. Just crushed.
  21. This Giants Nats game is madness.
  22. I'm pretty sure its the 9s, but I'll see if I can wrangle up a second pair of stats just to be sure. The squeal is low volume and high frequency. Almost like the chittering of an insect. It is only on the right side. Both sides can still play music but the squeal is there regardless of whether music is playing or not as long as the 9s are plugged in.
  23. So I plugged in my 009s for the first time in a few weeks and there was a squeal in one of the drivers. I unplugged them right away. I'm guessing my only option here is to send them in to Yamas/Accuphase/StaxUSA or whatever else they call themselves now? I bought them back in 2011/12 when the first came out so I highly doubt they are still under warranty.
  24. Sorry, Detroit. I'd feel bad, but I have too many memories of Verlander crushing the A's dreams year after year in the divisional round.
  25. The Roosevelts on PBS Its Ken Burns and the Roosevelts (Teddy, Eleanor and Franklin). Its fantastic. I've really really enjoyed it. It is easily Ken Burns' best since The War. WATCH IT!!! 5/5! (even though I'm only through 5 of the 7 two hour episodes). Teddy... what a guy! Our smartest (by IQ) president ever? Its amazing how he kind of defies description by todays political terms. In some ways he is incredibly liberal. When it comes to foreign policy he is as conservative as you can get. It all adds up to one of the greatest personalities of the last 150 years. I knew he was a great guy, but after watching this I am more impressed than ever. Talk about someone who got where he was based on a pure combination of force of will and intelligence. Eleanor... its funny to watch her story and relate it to the first ladies that have been around in the 30 years since I was born. What an incredible woman. I had no idea she had suffered so much. FDR... love him or hate him, there is no denying that he was THE most important president of the 20th century. Its amazing to see how much the polio humanized him. He goes from being this golden boy for whom basically everything came easy to having this incredibly human struggle with his condition. One of the commentators mentioned that in this day and age there is no way someone like FDR could ever have become president today. I find that incredibly sad. I've loved the episodes I've seen so far. I can't recommend this enough. Great job, Ken Burns! Great job (as usual), PBS!
