With the HD600, I prefer the Equinox the most among the followings: Cardas, Blue & Silver Dragon, and Zu Cable. Can anyone remember the Clou & Red Blue Japris? Those were crazy stiff cables. The first upgrade cables made famous by headroom. Tyll, you got to remember those right?
Thanks Tyll for those initial impression. I could careless about "head" Monster CEO attending the meet. He should be blame for the current states of headphones. Headphones used to be off good values until he decided to commercialized Beat!
I have not verified this on the iPhone or iPod touch but from my experience with my Sony Walkman and other MP3 players not apple, the line out always sound superior to headphone out using additional amplification.
I always find a true line out to sound better than one from the headphone output. This has been the case for all portable devices with a dedicate line out.
Another vote for the Shure SE535. Have them awhile now and really like the smooth and balanced presentation especially the improved clarity from the old SE500/530. Midrange maybe a little too forward for some and treble extension can be a bit better. The 535 has a very nice bass, but it won't satisfy the basshead out there. Still, a very nice buy in my book if you can find it for around $350. If you have the fund, get the JH13pro though.
I think it is the JVC HA-DX1000. I like them better than the Denon D7000 though. Try this funky mods for better sound!

Well, I'm curious about them myself and glad that Dusty asked some questions. For 2K, it is in O2 territory as well as the HE60 price wise. Might be better off buying the O2 if you already have a good stats amp.
RIP Matt. I met him back in 2008 on the annual Florida Meet. He was extremely friendly and heartwarming. We spent half and hour talking about his SP MPX3 and Sennheiser HD650 headphone. He is way too young to have this happened to him. You will be dearly missed Matt.
You guys should check out the new Sony walkman with a S-master MX digital amp technology. I found the headphone out of my Sony NWZ-A867 (Japan Version) with an on-board digital amp to be quite superb with my JH13pro. The sound quality difference b/w the headphone out vs. amping it with the maxed out Larocco Pocket Ref is quite slim. It is more or less a side step than anything else.
