  1. 009 take on the lamda driver? maybe it'll help some of the low end
  2. 43rd week of 52, if that still wasn't clear. thanks for organizing this
  3. I'm glad I didn't bother watching then. It seems to sound fine using DVD audio extractor so give it a spin. Should take less than 30 minutes a disc if your computer isn't dogshit like mine. I did some homework, the disc listing is 01 Muzai Moratorium 02 Shoso Strip 03 Kalk Samen Kuri Hana 04 - Ringo no Uta 05 - Watashi to Houden 01 06 - Watashi to Houden 02 So Heisei Fuzoku is its own separate hi-res re-release. Not trying to be snarky about it, it's just a really good album you should pick up if you're interested in Shiina Ringo. I also managed to find the Tokyo Jihen Hard Disk Set if you're interested, but that seems like something you might want to invest in. They released the redbook compilation in '13 so I wouldn't hold my breath for a hi-res version anytime soon.
  4. yeah heisei fuzoku is one of the best, I didn't know it was a movie soundtrack either which makes a lot more sense with respect to the themes/lyrics do your mora DVDs also have video content? I've heard that if you put them into a video player there's some footage of ringo drawing Re: ripping, http://www.dvdae.com/dvdae/tutorial/cd , trying it out on a dvd rip I found
  5. @Dusty Chalk you might be interested in the new 24/96 of Heisei Fuzoku: : I also found the Decca re-release(?) of Ashkenazy's Rachmaninoff recordings, but I've been told that his interpretation is on the dull side? I'm no classical buff so no idea what that entails, but I do remember spending my cash on the 44/16 version at borders when I was 12 or 13 years old.
  6. I ordered some mini circuits 75r attenuators- 3,6,10db that are good up to 500M. I can't measure anything but I can at least determine how much attenuation the Yggdrasil can handle before it refuses to lock. Everyone seems to recommend sticking this on the rx side but wouldn't it also make sense to place something on the tx side as well?
  7. my personalized tube recommendation for your teton is an endoscope, so you can dislodge your head from your ass and properly wear headphones. Should clear up the sound immensely Can you PLEASE review this afterward? Sorry but your post is crap
  8. Anyone here use spacers to lift the resistors off the board? Wondering if an appropriate part exists that meets all the clearances over the board.
  9. Thanks for the answer, reminded me to do some homework and dig up this thread: http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=45330.0 I was thinking about doing a similar exercise for the schiit yggdrasil's BNC input but the space and cost for a TDR is holding me back atm. Pat spooked me enough about RF measurements that I don't want to just blindly follow the values and pray it works properly... Have you tried/measured/listened to the effects of an RF attenuator at the BNC input on the Transporter? I figured since you have the setup you'd easily be able to evaluate this
  10. does the original t2 use any plug-in cards a la 727? seems like another way to save some depth / width for stuff like the batteries or anything that doesn't require the sink
  11. I'm also down for some heatsink if there's any left over
  12. thanks Kerry, luckily Kevin got it back up. those umbilicals are a killer excited to see the end result of your shrink. that board looks difficult enough just to solder, not to mention the heatsink drilling seems nightmarish. is size the main reason you don't opt for angle brackets?
  13. anyone got a BOM xls on their HDD? kevin's links seem to be down
  14. you just slip them on and off into the grooves provided, it'll be obvious once you take them off. how to plug the ports has been documented here some years ago
  15. isn't that clearly xianghaos work? he had the tubes and carbon fiber pictured
  16. That's interesting, I've used higher volumes for the Omega in order to make some of my comparisons to the 007. I'll evaluate them again when I can hook it up to a Carbon or T2. The 007 does soundly beat the Omega in the weight/comfort department though
  17. I think you could live with either headphone as a "reference", but it gets a bit dicey when you compare them side by side. The 009 just tends to have a lot more energy in the treble so things sound a bit unnatural- not only things like high hats and splashes but (what I perceived to be) reverb and and soundstage effects. Personally I think it tries to force these things on you as a constant reminder that it sounds detailed, at the expense of "accurate reproduction". It might be why spritzer recommends putting some distance between the back of the earpad and your ears with some foam. It might just be my particular unit, but sometimes my 007 also obscures some of the details in the recording because of how it reproduces bass- sometimes there's too much reverb in that region. Probably also something I can tune with the fit, even though I've done so a few times in the past. It's not as offensive as the 009, which is why I ended up selling my unit a few months ago. I might be a hipster though, I think the SR-Omega is the most neutral, but that's a different can of worms
  18. it's the tkd 2508 with shields I believe
  19. headfi has the people that use power amps for this stuff I imagine. there might be someone here who is using birgirs lundahl box though
  20. anyone know what these plastic parts from the omega are called? thinking about interfacing the pad to the driver housing with some damping material, the pads on both the omega and omega ii seem to vibrate quite a bit..
  21. if it had a hand that did that at least it'd be worth 40k
  22. Did they release any information on the amplifier? I don't think I'll ever get along with those aesthetic choices
  23. maybe the standard sennheiser 6 pinout + 2 for l/r ground?
