what's wrong with my sister's laptop?
and how do I make sure I don't have to waste my time with this stuff ever again? let's see... I guess we can say the laptop isn't exactly responsive, there's a few too many search toolbars in IE (google, AIM, and something called MyWebSearch), some website popups occur once in a while telling her to buy "WinAntiVirus Pro 2006," she tells me that whenever she types in "www" into the web browser it disappears or something so I have to fix this so-called "www" problem (hint: the actual address bar is minimized and only the search tool text boxes are showing), some website told me to run PandaSoftware's online antivirus (pandas finding viruses? they don't seem exactly fit for the job) so I did that and I got something like 90 spyware, 50 hacking tools and potentially unwanted tools, and a couple dialers. not sure if that's all the problems but I'm sure there's more if I look around. she tells me she doesn't do a thing and her system magically gets all these fun free programs for her use, so that's a bit bewildering too. I recall her talking about some random talking smily program which I guess is called "Smiley Central" so perhaps that's part of the problem. but she claims she only uses her computer to write papers, check e-mail, and I guess something to do with her iPod so it really makes no sense. Mikey, please help, since I sure don't want to.

User Profiles?
I don't think you have as many as some others here. you need more.

User Profiles?
is there a way to separate them into another section rather than being bunched up with the contact info? or maybe we need to mess with the stylesheets for that.

User Profiles?
but I want to know what pretzels are best. wouldn't looking up what other people have be a good way to know, or at least a way to figure out who to bother for direction?

User Profiles?
I made this thread for people to list their gear in... works well enough for now, no? http://www.head-case.org/index.php/topic,96.0.html some people have too much stuff to just list it in their sig. 300 character maximum is not enough.

Poll: Locking own threads?
awww... no fun.

list your equipment here
I suppose we don't have an option to show off gear in our user profile, so how about making a post in this thread laying out your system. let's keep it clean so only one post per person. put a link to your post in this thread in your signature for easy access if you like....

K601 vs. K701
there were some K701's at the Saratoga meet, and there was at least one K601. I didn't listen to the K601, but from what the majority has been saying, they are pretty much the same, along with the K601's fitting their heads better. I didn't care much for the K701's though.... so probably not the K601's either.

will this thread get deleted here too?
hi Justin. you mean your K1000? what's Ed going to do? get a plane ticket to VA to wrestle them away from you?

Hello everyone!
I suppose in this case pretzels are better than churros.

what are you smoking Ed? you need to look at the pictures linked to on his GS-X page before making stuff up like that. http://www.headamp.com/home_amps/gsx/index.htm I know about the modules he had in the GS-X at the recent socal meet, and we talked about this before, so me making a mistake misidentifying modules? highly unlikely. I guess he went back to the dynalo modules for one reason or another, at least for the time being.

Bass Impact Poll
PATB has plenty of balanced 010 cables now to waste the next few days with cable comparisons. foo_me came to the meet so I was able to compare my cables to his Black Dragon. the Black Dragon was better than I thought, or perhaps my memory of that cable's sound was off, but it still seemed to color it too much and took away from the 010 sound (but nowhere near as much as the balanced cable I made from a hacked-up audio-technica IC), although I do like the Black Dragon coloration. but given that the balanced cables made with litz-braided wire were not cavernous sounding and didn't seem wrong sounding in the short listen, these are probably better cables to be using technically. I wonder how PATB thinks of all this, and if he's satisfied with the litz-braided cables for his SDS-XLR.

Mikey needs all the help he can get when it comes to computers. might as well name it "mikey's computer help hotline."
