  1. hmmm, had assumed it was JPY, not sure why... but still overpriced at $130...
  2. Followed that link ^, and saw this wackiness: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=2013.1.20141002.5.aHW0Yd&scm=1007.10009.3949.i44429805848&id=43702703536&pvid=798d9bcf-a1ba-43eb-bc60-b809f56636b4 A water cooled T2 chassis for $130 shipped - the digital rendition looks very promising, I am sure it would work flawlessly...
  3. Great, thanks. Just need to check the pin-outs on the parts - hopefully not much twisting will be needed.
  4. For those who still have c2240 and c2705, are the newer pzta part subs better? Also, if one used the 1486 would it need to be heatsinked given your comments on the stn9360?
  5. Pretty sure no matching is needed tor the T2.
  6. He just needs to add another hole for the volume pot shaft extension... and maybe another for a power switch.
  7. What stripper do you use for the Teflon - I always strip by hand, which is a pain (the sickos can read this any way they want).
  8. Are they ST parts? Had read that their negative regulators could be hit and miss.
  9. Those look like the boards Tran made with other people 's money.
  10. These are way cheaper at Newark. If teflon is not a priority, these are from Mouser and work fine in the DIY T2: http://ca.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Keystone-Electronics/6038/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMsQtlBhqKq43TNyVdQaQ6rh
  11. Does anyone have any tips of desoldering board mounted Teflon tube sockets. Would like to use them somewhere else at the moment.
  12. Anyone tried these guys for small pcb runs? Bittele Electronics Inc - http://www.7pcb.ca/pcb-quote-online/. Their prices seem pretty good - they are based in Canada but bill in USD.
  13. Utsource sells both real and fake parts, so it can be a bit hit and miss.
  14. Of course, everyone knows that when things start getting out of spec that they sound their best.
  15. My Sumr T2 transformers have been silent and trouble free for nearly 2 years. The KGSSHV transformers, on the other hand, seem to be prone to developing a low level buzz, as do a lot of other toroids I have heard in other audio equipment over the years. I have been lucky enough to not have experienced a sumr meltdown, but have heard of it from other sources as well. Certainly not an unblemished track record.
  16. Word of caution. Placed an order with Newsmartcom recently, purportedly based in Hong Kong, for some capacitors and other parts I was having trouble locating. All the parts were counterfeit - re-labelled copies (including the plastic capsules on the caps). Did some random test measurements, and things measured within range, but who knows what the performance would be under load - and I really don't want to find out. So all of it is garbage. Good news though is that paypal actually found in my favour in the dispute - guessing because the seller didn't follow the process.
  17. why would you need the bushing to go past the ceramic insulator?
  18. Hopefully they have the list of serials and make them public.
  19. The metal can be found at Mouser if anyone is looking - keystone part# 1453.
  20. Great work! And where did you find the plastic shaft couplers?
  21. Makes sense so as not to miss the free shipping promotion.
