  1. OK. My son is looking for some IEMs at under $100... less than $50 would be a bonus. Must have good bass, but I am trying to steer him away from boomy bass crap. From what he has read so far, he seems to be interested in the Ety ER-6is, or the HF-5s. I also want him to look at Shures if he can find something decent in his price range. Also the Headdirect ER-0s might not be too bad, but also might not suit his preferences. He keeps reading crap on the 'net that is all over the map on recommendations. I have really no experience with IEMs, so any recommendations? I know this is way below the $$ threshold most of you look at so...
  2. ^ I'll try to update as I go along. Marc PM'd me and said he could answer most of these, and would get back to me. As far as I know, none of the group buy boards have been built, other than it appeared that Jacob built a quad of his. This is probably too low of voltage to attract much attention these days
  3. I have the Eagle files for the thru-hole version but not for the custom SMD version. The files I have are close but probably not the final (don't have the 1x3 pin header for SJ1 for example). Any recommendations for the feedback setting? I re-read the thread and am leaning towards the standard feedback loop (back to the input FETs), but wanted any experience/advice. Does anything need to change parts wise between the two? I thought I would build this with a stock gain of 11 unless others experience would deviate from this. I assume to change the gain I would increase R56 rather than decreasing R55? I think I will socket R56... Also, if the alternate feedback loop is used, how is gain set? Does SJ2 need to be jumpered in this case? Kevin mentions decreasing the 5K resistors to 2K, but I'm uncertain which 5K resistors (R5-R10; R19; R20; R59). I would guess R19-20 is what he is referring to.

  8. The Bulgin's that are like that at Mouser are rated 24V, 50mA...
  9. Those look decent. I like FrozenCPUs appropriation in their spec description though Makes them sound like they are Bulgin...

    X-box or PS3?

Decided to do other things. They really don't need any more ways to waste time that they should be using other things Thanks for the suggestions though... maybe I'll use them for myself
  11. Head-Fi.org - Headphone forums and reviews for audiophiles And I'd read (or re-read) your welcome PM...
  12. You seem far too coherent to be totally drunk, at least until the last 2 sentences
  13. x2, looks great. You've been a busy boy

  15. If that's the golf course, tell the greenskeeper he needs to mow it a bit more closely... looks rather nappy. You can tell I'm pissed because it's like 10 fucking degrees here Nice pics BTW, and glad someone is getting out and having fun.
  16. Happy Birthday!
  17. Shows up on the US site: CDV19CF050DO3F Cornell Dubilier Mica Capacitors If it fits properly, I would think it would work.It appears the lead spacing is 0.344" versus 0.25" for the ceramic.
  18. Bump. Starting to collect parts and re-reading the thread. Hopefully the BOM that digipete sent is accurate, at least WRT part values
  19. Belated condolences on your Grandfather, Steve. As noted, he does sound like a good one. I still miss my grandfather and think about him. And Reks, sorry about the leg. Not being able to put weight on one sucks. With the air splint/boot, does that mean you will be able to walk on it, of still need to use crutches?
  20. Happy Birthday!
  21. Technically, no RCA connector is 75 ohms, regardless of the marketing BS. Some commercial RCA cables might use 75 ohm coax as the cable (Belden 1505, etc.). You could do some of these: Enjoy The Music's Max Rochlin Memorial Digital & Video Cable. (6) Redco Audio - Canare RCAP-C4F Male RCA Crimp Style @ $3.50ea = $21 (or available at markertek as well for $4.09 ea) (6) Canare Corporation Of America Canare CB25 Colored Cable Boots for LV-61S / L-4CFB / V-4CFB Cable Connector Boots at Markertek.com @ $0.25 = $1.50 (2 each in red, green and blue) (60') Belden CDT Inc Belden 1505A RG59/20 HD and SDI Digital Coaxial Cable Bulk Digital Video Cable at Markertek.com @ $0.49 = $29.40 some heatshrink, techflex and maybe a bit of Caig ProGold. Don't need the Canare crimper really, just a soldering iron for the pins and some pliers. So $50+ in parts, versus the $112 that BJC charges for their 1505F cable or $85 for their 1694a cable.
  22. That is an incredible story Dinny. Lennon was always my favorite and IMHO the most talented of the Beatles. He seemed to manage to stay true to himself as well. RIP.

    K701.

Dynalo (what I'm using now) or Dynahi (what I'm finishing casing on this winter). This with 601s. M^3 with sigma11 PSU would be a solid rec as well, and probably warm them up a touch. And x2 on the shut up and read (including welcome pm) or go over there. Or not.

    X-box or PS3?

On the X-Box, the 4G and 250G consoles are the hard drive sizes? 4G seems kinda small if that is the case. If that is indeed the case, how much impact does HD size have on the system performance? Thanks for the table as well. You can tell I've done my research...
