  1. Look at Sonic Craft High-End DIY Audio Parts. They have the C series as well as the AC and Std. If you could use a K series (VK, etc.) that is what I would get, but it doesn't look like there is anything close to what you need. I assume you also checked Michael Percy Audio?
  2. Oh My God The BS meter did itself in after reading that site...
  3. Welcome back! And thank you!
  4. I'd like to see SED... think this was Toshiba and Canon (or someone else??), and supposedly gives you all the advantages of both LCD and plasma IIRC. I think they are supposed to come out next year?
  5. What? Returning items to Best Buy isn't a pleasant experience?
  6. I'm glad to hear that Luis!
  7. I didn't see anything in analog888's listings, nor any offer for custom values. DIY Gene also sells R-cores on ebay: 50W R Core Transformer,115V//230V, for Preamp,DAC/R26-x - eBay (item 260307179697 end time Nov-27-08 05:34:16 PST) R26-42 0-50-55X2 would work, although it is 50VA, which I guess would be more than enough. I had heard the same thing as you were telling me though that going up a bit on the xfrmr rating could sound better. He has some 100VA, but nothing with the right secondaries. Plus, this was the guy that was doing the clone amps (and probably still is), so I'm not sure I want to deal with him.
  8. I would think Reactionary might be a better term...
  9. Marc, The transformer I need for the Aleph clone is 2 x 55-60V secondaries (and probably something to do a 5Vdc supply off of for input selector/volume control ala Dantimax or TwistedPear, etc.). I was looking at vt4c, but only see the custom 50VA and 100VA, of which I would probably want the 100VA one. They are somewhat unclear, as they have a statement but then provide pricing quantities of 1-3, etc. which would seem to indicate that I could order 1? Regarding your last statement, I ran across this thread today which I found rather illuminating... particularly around the middle of it (p5 or so, p8 is interesting ).
  10. This is our 4th Accord... I must be getting too set in my ways I was considering a TL, but decided to limit the damages more...
  11. To continue the economy goes south, so lets buy a new car! philosophy, I bought one of these about a month ago to replace my aging '93: Built in Ohio, I believe, to somewhat counter the previous gentleman's objections...
  12. That's good to hear! Sorry you are out of your house for 3+ nights, but good that you still have one (a house). And best wishes Luis, hope your place was spared as well!
  13. For a Pass Aleph P1.7 I've partially built. I think for final use I will use the Dantimax attenuator, input selectors, etc., kinda like this one.
  14. That should look really nice Pete. Have fun with your aluminum
  15. I would doubt that would even be a possibility
  16. How much you wanna pay IC: Group Buy Monofied Sijosae Buffer PCBs - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio Or do a search on HF for alternatives. Can't remember who (National?) has one out that is very close to BUF634 but is supposed to sound better. The discretes sound alot better. But I do have a few BUF634 DIP-8s... wasn't really looking to sell them but I don't have anything I was going to put them in either.
  17. For a SE 5.5' he's charging $439; for a 7.5' $509, or a delta of $70 for 2'. Using Nate's pricing, figure 10' of wire to do 4 x 2', so $62.50. Either he's not good at math and using quite different margin calculations in his pricing, or this may give some visibility as to what he is really paying for wire from Jena. And after the R10 recable incident, I can't believe he's doing business with Jena. Like ALO, etc., he'll find plenty of lemmings perfectly willing to pony up...
  18. Oooh... could in the future, but not right now.
  19. And the 14ga Volex cords used to be Belden 19364... not sure if they still are.
