  1. Bob Crump's Asylum Power cord over on AA is pretty good and should be fairly inexpensive. I couldn't find a pointer to original posting, but it used Belden 19364 14ga power cable, a Pass and Seymour 5266x plug and a Schurter 4300.0603 IEC end. I've found the P&S plugs at Menards (midwest chain kinda like Home Depot, etc.). The Schurter IEC I've gotten from Mouser. Cable Asylum: Re: DIY Power Cord (Bob Crump) Follow up ?'s.... by rcrump

    RIP Mitch Mitchell

Yes, he was extremely underrated... RIP
  3. Oh gawd... I'd seen this a couple of days ago but hadn't actually looked at his website. I like the "Sale" items section Sale Items. I'll give you $9.99 for that pair of W5000s, but please take that fugly Jena cable off and put the stock one back on And he even uses those really fugly cable pants from Qables or PartsExpress (made for speaker cables). Pure win on that one... What, no testimonials yet?
  4. I like the looks of that jack on there, and the lettering is quite good as well. But of course, it would have been Lily B22 "The Beta" for the full effect.
  5. I'm going to need you to build some amps on Saturday...
  6. Interesting that I haven't seen anyone discuss a certain stat amp that was supposed to be at the after-event... NDA in effect?
  7. Absolutely! Thank you to all who have served.
  8. I certainly would! Ends with an "o".... Sluggo?
  9. So you're looking for quick connect terminals (crimp type) that you can pull the plastic off, solder, then replace the plastic, plus heatshrink them? Interesting, but I guess from using these and crimping them I can perhaps understand why you are going to the trouble. What brands have you tried and not liked? I'll take a look at the variety I have and see if any of them seem to allow this. You couldn't just use a non-insulated terminal, solder it, then heatshrink it?

The independent negatives are required for balanced operation. I'm not sure how most amps would take it if you were to bridge them as the negative amp channels would be fighting each other... you would not be getting balanced operation though.
  11. Maybe it found its way to someone's skull as he intended before he could photograph it?

    I agree. Walter's a kick.
  13. Oh yeah... Pray tell, what is this Aristaeus? I understand that it is an electrostatic amp, but what is it geared for, and how is it different from the KGSS, BH, etc.? I had never heard of it before I came over here, and doing a search on it comes up with no product data. I imagine it was never listed on the Headamp site?
  14. Wait a minute! I'm bein framed here, I tell ya! It's actually ParMetals. MOT alert hereby cancelled.
  15. I was planning on opening it up anyhow when I get it Just to look...
  16. I'd agree with Nate. You can take the top/sides off a Par Metal case quite easily without disturbing anything and take a look to see what it is.
  17. The other amp will not be at the meet, but everyone that wants to is invited over afterwards. Me, I'm going home... if I go at all. What happened to the normal shitstorm when someone is "excluded" from a HF meet? Such as a certain reks had happen a few years ago? Oh yeah, you would have to whine, etc. too get that going...
  18. Speaking of which, a certain manufacturer is showing an amp after a HF meet this weekend...

Posted on that other site. Dremel tool set on Woot : One Day, One Deal (SM) today. I'm really tempted by this one as the only Dremel type tool I have is this cheap piece of crap from Harbor Freight. Too bad I bought that new car...

    America...

Yep. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the concession speech as well.
  21. Yeah, audio pots typically don't like a bunch of DC on them. Non-oscillating = 0 Hz = DC. If your amp is DC coupled it likely will amplify DC. It may not like it much though, as I would think it is a very hefty duty cycle (100%)?
